Big Uglies Hunt

Can anyone share the how too's on the rigging when fishing for those Big Black Drum. Also how to use the crab, shell on or off, pinchers no pinchers etc. Heddin down to Surfside for the week and want to try with my 10 year old. He wants to fish off the jetty. Any help would be much appreciated!
