Kahr P380
I purchased one of these guns for my wife so that she could get her concealed carry permit. From the day we first fired the gun, its has failed to feed almost on every magazine. It was so bad during the class, our instructor made her stop using the gun and she had to finish the class with mine. We have shot a little over 400 rounds and it has jammed over 50 times.
I just got off the phone with Kahr. The problem is apparently me. The rep from Kahr just told me that the only way you are to load the first round in the chamber is load it from the side. Loading the first round by pulling the action back and letting slide forward is not the proper way to load the gun. Does this sound strange to anyone? How can that make the fourth round jam?
Also, let me add these folks were not friendly at all. Did not offer to have me ship the gun back, questioned my ability to properly clean and load a gun, etc, and basically said I must be using bad ammo. (using Federal and Winchester white box).
For the money you pay for one of these guns, you should get more, much more. I'm on my way to get a Kel-tec or perhaps a Ruger LCP.
Also, is there anyway to complain to the ATF about a gun. This gun appears to me to be unsafe.

sometimes them lil 380 are picky. a good firm grip on the gun may be the problem.big hands, small gun? i had a few problems at first with the kimber and found out i needed to hold it a little harder, tighter. after that, no more problems. the power from the first shot helps load the next. as for what the factory guys told you about loading the first round sounds a little off the wall to me?

i've read similar complaints about the early kel-tec p3at's. turns out some of the ramps needed a little extra polishing. stinks you have the problem, but if contacting them doesn't do any good you might bring it to a gunsmith.
never heard of having to load the first round that way.

That is what "Jay" told me over the phone. I don't think it has anything to do with how we are holding it or the ammo. I purchased a S&W bodyguard 380 at the time, use the same ammo, clean the same way, etc. The S&W has been perfect, no problems.
The thing is I have heard that Kahr is supposed to be so great at customer service. LOL, my wife tried to talk to them first and they basically just blew her off. I have asked for a supervisor to call me back. "Jay", who sounded every bit of 17 and I did not hit it off.

Get a S&W Airweight model 642 or 442.........You or your wife will be able to depend on it.Sqeeze the trigger and it goes boom.IMHO....The 38 +p round is a better man stopper that the anemic 380 mouse gun, plus the reliebility of a revolver has been time proven.

I have a Kahr PM9 and have nothing but praise for the gun. The cutomer support, too. I had a part of the plastic insert on the grip blow out when a reload split the unsupported part of the case. (Lesson learned...don't run 20 year old reloads even if they are free....
They walked me though checking other parts and send me a new pin to hold it all together.
She did need to be run in. I did have early FTE's, but that slowed down to a stop. Runs great now! These plastic guns have to be broke in.
What do you want for the 380? I saw a LCP in the classifieds for a steal if you want a different shooter.
