Saltwater suggestions for a rookie

So Im fairly new to saltwater, and Im sure it shows, but.....
Im planning to take the wife and kids down to surfside on the weekend of the 26th.
She has been wanting to go to the beach for a while.
Ive been to Surfside before, but that was 6 or so years back.
I just have a few questions for yall if ya can give me advice.
Can you still drive on the beach down there?
How is the fishing on the jetty for reds and trout?
Are there any other good places to fish without a boat?
I do have a boat but its just a 15 ft alumaweld with 25 merc. Do you think that is safe in the bay if I were to take it?
My oldest boy keeps wanting to hook up with a shark for CPR only, what are the possibilities of that on the jetty?
Should I just drown some bait or will the arties do me any good on the jetty?
How far in advance do I need to book a room at the surfside motel?
I know, lots of questions, but I know you guys have the answers.
Thanx
TS
