Galv Ship Channel Flounder

Have the flounder began their move through the ship channel yet. Even though we can only keep 2 each, I have a couple of friends that would like a couple for dinner. I've heard of some being caught down there but not sure if it is "hot & heavy" yet.

Where is a good place to get live finger mullet besides using a cast net?

Smithy's and theres is another bait camp to the right before you get to the light on 61 street.I wouldn't recommend you getting mullet from the bait camp that is to the right as soon as you pass the causeway.I dont want to mention the name but the first and last time I buy mullet from them. The mullet died on me before I even started fishing.

You have got to fish the out going tide in the ship channel other wise it is like trying to find a solid keeper in a hay stack. I have been fishing this area for 18 of my 23 years of life. I use to get frustrated all the time when I would go out and not get a single fish out there during this time of year and other days land nothing but solid keepers. I started picking up when the fish ran through there and it's when the tide is moving out. You can actually see the tide switching out in the channel during the fall and winter. It is a foam line where the water is really confused.

Couple of things to reminder is that the flounder are heading to the gulf to spawn and flounder are really lazy. They use the outgoing tide to help them migrate

I went late Friday and saw a few waders coming back in with their limits. They came from the bay side. I tried the channel side with no luck. There were 3 others out there and no one pulled up anything. Becareful fishing near SWP there is ALOT of debris in the water still.
