Livingston blue cats 11-4 SS report

Took the kids out fishing for blues today and to get ready for a trip Sunday. We drifted for blue cats in the main lake, I wish now I had taken a picture of the debris field that is running down the lake between Cape Royal and the island. it must be 600 to a 1000 yards across. So did not go over by Browder's where I would like to have gone.
We fished the area between the island and the state park drifting in 36' of water most of the time.
Using cut shad and cut drum we caught 5 nice blues from 9:00 to 11:00. All were just about 22" to 25" (4 to 6lbs.) Very nice size for filleting.

We did blink on a few bites that were good strong runs, but did not hook up.
Drifting was very nice today, the weather perfect, and the lake looking pretty good considering.
Here is pic at the state park so you can see that it is stained but still clear enough to fish.

Megan and Shane, friends of Lee's, came along to enjoy the lake and take home some good blues for the frying pan.

Great report. Thought I was going to hear a bar ditch story. Water does not look too bad. As I said to GG the lake looks like it has been power washed.

The debris field is something to see, I have not seen that much vegetation and stumps lined up like they are now. There are tons of birds picking at it too. I think by Sunday the weather will have things moving more and the fish should bite good. Right now the high pressure and full moon have them off their usual feeding times. Sunday should bring a little wind to the game.

I went out briefly today experimenting with new props trying to find the right pitch for my boat/e-tech with a SS prop. Went from 13 degree pitch up to 17 degree where I was satisfied with the results.

At any rate, regarding debris, the debris off the old 190 road bed is still very dangerous. Lots of semi-submerged logs which can be very difficult to see and could cause considerable damage. Water didn't look good for sight feeding fish...but they got to eat sometime.

Great report SS, thanks for the pics. When all the debris comes down the river through the main lake, where does it go, just sinks I guess none can get through dam, just curious?

A lot of it will go through the dam, sometimes hanging up in a gate for a long time. Most of it will give us heck for months, blowing from one side of the lake to the other until it gets waterlogged and sinks.
I think it's the lost Continent of Atlantis it's so big. who knew it in the creeks up the lake all along?
As you can see the water was dead calm today, it started to blow a little just as we were leaving. If you look hard you can see the edge of the debris field on the West side of the island.

I went back today and did no good at all, one channel cat. The wind was blowing enough for a good drift,so tomorrow I am headed up lake a ways to find some fish. It is a high pressure day however and that may be what kept them from biting well. the debris line moved West over night and is still very thick. I believe I can a layer of it on the bottom with sonar.
