Try using a PVC "Cable Saw". It is a wire attached between two handles that you will be able to saw the pipe very close to the ground. You should be able to purchase one cheap at an Ace Hardware or Home Depot.

I've got a tube cutter on the way. Just need someone to get in the water to do it. Water's too chilly for me now

I'll offer you a case of beer and a night of fishing under the lights at the camp if anyone wants to go down and do the deed. I'm skeered to go under da water.

That will be a giant pair of tube cutters to open up to two inches, and very heavy and will take some time. A cable saw would zip right through it and cut much closer to the ground.

A few years back when I was looking for a boat slip in port isabel I saw some of these being removed, they where using a water pump and where blasting the mud to loosen up the poles, the hose was tied up to some metal pipes, attached to a 15' pole and dropped next to the wooden pilings, the guy on the aluminun boat that had a pole would work it down into the mud after about 30min all you could see from that pole was about 2 to 3 feet,

It would be great to have you out this weekend Coe. Didn't get a PM though. I've got the tube cutter I ordered. Looks like just the ticket. Clamp it on, tighten it up, turn it a few times while tightening the blade and voilla! It'll be done. Looks like a light crew this weekend if you want to spend the night.
