Hairout 06 F150 Locked Popped in San Antonio

Someone popped the lock on my truck while we were in SA. I noticed phone charger and gps charger gone but thought I misplaced, then took it to car wash and thorough inspection revealed CDS missing, kids DS also gone. I then noticed lock had small screwdriver indention on handle and lock was pushed in some. Put key in it and it went all the way back. Remote lock still works, any suggestions? I heard in the past this was expensive repair, and also rememeber someone saying they put a carriage bolt in there? Help!!!!!

It is an easy fix if you are mechanically competent. The plastic door handle and tumbler are the only items that usually need to be replaced. Both can be had at the dealer for under a hundred bucks. You can purchase security plates which will make it much more difficult if not impossible to punch the lock, but if they want in they will just break a window.

Steven, I saw those plates at Trailer Wheel and Frame on I-45 near Little York and Canino.

Ford Locks

I had the lock busted on my 2003 F250 and recently on my 2008 F250. I understand they can have the door open in less than 10 seconds.
Cost to have the lock replaced on the 2003 was about $400 at the dealership since they had to replace several parts.
The 2008 has a touch pad and remote so I do not plan on replacing this one anytime soon. It appears Ford would redesign the handle since this has been a problem for several years.

I hate to say it but you can get in the Chevy's the same way. I had the same thing happen to my in San Antonio also. I had minor damage so I have not done any repairs. The LEO who took the report told me it was the Katrina transplants. So now I don't leave anything of value in the truck is a pain but am not giving my valuables away again.

When I bought it, a guy suggested that I get a back door handle ( no keyhole) as a must have in order to buy the truck type of thing. You guys are right though, 350-400 to fix. I have a Camry as a work car (round trip 77 miles 5x a week) and all the cd's are burned, and nothing in the car worth more than 5 bucks, unlike the truck which my wife primarily drives in Kingwood ( 7 mile round trip 5x a week). Makes me want to get rid of it now instead of summer like we planned. Why will Ford and Chevy not fix this, same reason they will probably go bankrupt, they do not listen to customers and make changes.
