Question - Fusion IP radio (ipod)
How do you keep your iphone from overheating when plugged into the Fusion ipod doc during the summer time? Seems the iphone doesn't last but an hour or so before shutting down and saying it is overheated. I have had the best luck with a ipod nano plugged into it. I guess the more airspace around it the cooler it stays? Just thought about this, maybe the face of the fusion ip stereo can be opened and will the iphone/ipod still play?

I have the remote dock mounted in my console and never had a problem. If it's overheating, it's possibly a result of charging in addition to the sun. Typically I use a 3rd Gen iPod. Why not just use the Nano or possibly pick up a 3rd or 4th Gen iPod for $100 or so? Zero heat issues with those...

iphone is not in the sun, it is inside the fuision.. you open the face up, plug the iphone into it, then close the face... yes, the nano does not overheat this way but the iphone does... just wondering if anyone else had same problem... it doesn't charge while plugged in.. if the nano runs out of juice I got my iphone to back it up but won't last due to heat.

Your phone may not be directly in the sun, however what abut the Fusion radio that it's sitting in? Surely you know the radio will heat up in the sun along with its contents...
I know the iPhone has heat sensitive components and thinking the iPods do not or.. since it's lacking anything large enough to put out enough heat like the screen, it never gets tripped.
Might just want to lay a towel over the unit to keep it cool.

Just wrap your iphone in maxi-pads or man up and get a Droid...

My iphone and nano both work fine and both charge while in radio. The iphone is not officially supported in that radio even though it works fine (at least has for me), and the heat issues may be why. I just bought a $100 nano that never leaves my boat.

I have the same radio in my boat and have never had an over heating issue during the summer time. Maybe its your iphone? I have a 4s and haven't had this issue and mine also charges while it plays.

yup, my iphone and nano play and charge just fine, no over heating but it helps with my t-top... i just leave my nano in there now, it's so much easier too.
