Shotgun Opinions

I'm looking to buy a shotgun to use for duck hunting as well as clay shoots. I know there are a lot of great brands out there. Trying to keep it close or under $1,000....I know these prices can jump up there. Thanks in advance

I've had pretty good luck with Brownings. You can get a Silver or an Winchester SX3 for under $1,000. I personally like the SX3 better than the semi hump on the Silver. The sight picture is pretty close to my wingmaster.

If you want to go with a lower price the Remington 11-87 and Weatherby SA-08 are good choices.

Spots and Dots Berreta 390 is the gun I was going to suggest. I bought one off of Gun Trader around Christmas. It is tough as nails. The dove fields in Argentina are the toughest proving ground for shotguns and the Berreta 390 and the Benelli Montefeltro are the hands down choice for the top operations down there. The Berreta 391's are good, but to get a nice walnut stock will run over $1500 and the auto mechanism is more complicated.

I'd buy Spots and Dots gun and be done with it.

I have shot all of the top of the line duck guns and the Browning Maxus is my overall favorite if you can get one for close to a grand jump on that deal. I shot a Winchester SX3 before the Maxus and it's a sweet gun as well. These new gas systems are a lot cleaner than gas systems of the past and they will always kick less than an inertia driven gun.

Benelli m2 is a good option in addition to what is already posted. You should be able to get a 12g for 1200-1300$ and a 20 for $1000-1200

Check out the Benelli Monte Feltro, should be under a $1000.
