Looking for new reel recommendations.

Well, as the title says im in the market for a new reel. Right now im looking into the Quantum Smoke and the Lews Tournament Pro Speed Spool reel. I currently have a couple curado 50e and a 200e. Looking for something better for a new rod im having built. Unless there not better in which case i will buy the new chronarchs. Thanks

New Chronarchs E-series is the same as the Curado 50e and 200E (supposedly with better annodizing on the handle and spool), so the new Chronarch isn't really an upgrade. If you want an upgrade and want a Shimano, buy the Chronarch D series. I have the Curado E-series and Chronarch D-series, and I do think the Chronarch D-series is a little better (probably not worth the original MSRP difference, but better).

Now that this is no longer a Shimano supported board I can voice my opinion Come back in a year and see if your opinion is still the same.

I never looked at the Core. The Chronarch 100D7 was the highest I ever looked at. What is the improvement for the Core. For the Chronarch D versus Curado E, it was a physically different design and I thought the Chronarch was a little nicer, but most important, it seemed smoother than the Curado (casting and retrieving). I assume that is because it had more bearings.

Lighter in weight. Essentially they are the same tooling (Core 100 and CH100D). The Chronarch does have an additional two bearings that are located in the handle paddles. In my opinion it does not add any performance gain. I like the Chronarch D and wish it never went away. I do like my Core that much more because I like lightweight reels.

I have a Shimano core 50mg7 and Shimano core 100mg, I use the 50mg7 more, if your interested I may consider selling my 100mg, it's been used (very) little.
