I have been reading some striper reports by folks who cat fish after the top water bite and are catching good numbers of cats, 25+.

The bite was the best usually very late at night or maybe the beer was just flowing better. Ended up with 60 keepers but nothing over 6 or 7 lbs., all good eaters! Fish fry to follow... I put some on a jug line but before I got 50 feet away, a catfish had come in and swallowed the 3 gallon jug it was tied to and was gone forever. I tried it again the next week and hung an even bigger fish but lost him too. We were able to snap a picture of him, but when I tried to upload it, it broke my scanner. The picture weighed 28 pounds.

Today I had return fishermen Billy Lee of Lake Conroe and 9 year old grandson Garrett from Michigan. Garrett has been with grandpa for the last month, school starts after labor day for Garrett.

Garrett got the biggest fish of the day and he also managed to catch the last fish, which was fish number 50. They limited out by 11:30am, then did catch and release for five more fish and we headed to the cleaning table.

Not too hot on the water. Weather man said NE winds all morning, up to
13mph. He got it right until about 10:30, then the wind shifted out of the SE, and the bite seemed to slow a bit. The fish might have just been getting full.

Fish all caught in 15foot water, under cork, using CJ's punch bait.
