The lake still looks trashy, muddy color, long strings of debris and hyacinths all along the South end, plenty of boat killers too.
Going up Kickapoo tomorrow with Lee to check out the crappie fishing, hope it looks better up the creek.
BTW, I went out to Gator gar and he processed my deer, I tried to help, but it is best to just get out of his way. Fussy phone pic is because he moves so fast for a big ole boy. He makes killer good pan sausage!

Fished today with Bob Wolverton of Lake Conroe and his son Brad of Houston.
This was the trip Bob won from the Conroe Cajun Catfish Festival. Brad showed everyone how to catch fish today, over and over and over.

A fun day on the water with good folks, that is what it is all about. Started off about 6:30 this morning with the temperature hung up on 38 degrees, and the winds hung up on about 10 mph to start with (they got higher).

The fish in the spot where I have been catching a bunch, had lock jaw and we caught none there, so we moved, ended up stopping at three other places. Found some fish in 4-8 foot water, on SureShot punch bait, using tight lines.

Ended the day with 50 nice fish for Bob's wife to cook. I know she will be happy. I also know she sure makes some good Tuna fish sandwiches.

Thanks Bob and Brad for a good trip.

Winter is just around the corner and I know how much everyone loves to stay huddled up next to the fire when it is cold out side so I thought I would give you a little incentive to come out to the big lake to experience winter fishing at its finest. Catching trophy sized blue cats and monster stripers can be a common occurrence during the winter months, even on the same trip. Last year I would typically catch around 30 blue cats and 30 stripers on the same anchor with up to 10 blue cats breaking the 20 pound mark on the same trip.
Right now all of my weekends are open for December. I will be running a winter special of $100/person (3 person minimum) which will last from December 1 – February 28. Your trips will include all bait and tackle supplied, a minimum of 4 hours on the water, and your catch cleaned with the red meat removed. You will not be rushed during your trip. We are out there to have fun and you may choose how you want your trip to go. We can fish for stripers using bait or lures, target giant blue cats, or we can try a little of everything. Trip discounts will still apply. Children 12 and under as well as active military are ½ price when accompanied with 2 full price adults and catch and release trips will receive 10% off.
I’m looking forward to fishing with you,
Brian
All pictures are from last winter's fishing.

The season is here for drift fishing for nice cats. It's a lot of fun letting the rods bounce along and then suddenly take a dive when a good cat hits.
My backyard is clearing up from all of the debris and hyacinth letting me get to and fish my drifting spots.
The fishing I had been doing up the lake when it was too matted up to boat safe on the South end just wasn't getting it done for me.
I never got the big fillet bait I was looking for this morning so I had to make do with some gizzard shad.
I caught 9 blues and 3 channels, two of the blues were both nice fat ones about 27" & 29" long, the rest from 4 lbs to 2.5lbs.

Action was pretty quick and all were caught in 35" of water.

Fished Fayette County Tuesday with Dave Stone (JerkUGotim) and his nephew Steve, of San Antonio. Fresh north winds, high pressure, sure slowed things down. We fished 6 spots that I normally catch lots of fish and ended the day with 8 fish weighing between 40-50#, not a bad day, but we had to work at it. Dave had the largest at 7#. Pretty good size channel cats today.
The weather was near excellent and the fishing was about as good. The trip produced twenty-five blue and total of 170#. The largest fish went 49#, three in the 20 range and the remainder going 3-8#. All fish caught on rod&reel using cut shad.
I will be running trips for these Trophy Blues from now until March on Cedar Creek and Tawakoni.
