Headed to Nickajack this morning ... Anchor Boy (Tim) and his Father-in-law Dennis made up the rest of the team today . When we arrived they had just a few of the gates open and it made catching skip jack easier . I also had some 2 - 3" shad that I had caught the evning before .. As of late the channels had been biting good , so we also carried some liver .. The day was beautiful sunny and cooler , but definately not cold ... We quickly started catching blues in the 5 - 15# range .. One right after the other on cut skip jack and shad .. The adrenaline was pumping and the fish were biting ... One of the fish earlier in the day - I caught on a smaller set up ... It was a 28# Blue ..

We continued catching good fish ... Rarely smaller than 5#s , there were four older gentleman fishing close , that were just going crazy everytime a picture was taken and one was thrown overboard .... hehe

The fishing remained hot and heavy for a while and then it happened Anchorboy got hammered and I could hear him a hollaring ... Oh boys - I got a good one --- A good fight later and that good one ended beating his previous best by 10# ... It was a 62# blue .. We took plenty of pictures and took the time to show it to the older gentleman and explain that we returned the larger ones and only kept smaller ones .. They were nice guys and I hope we made a good impression on them .. I missed at least two potential large fish during the day ... I can not tell you how many quality fish were caught today .. Only that it was unbelievable fun and I am eager to go back ,,, Cangrats Anchor boy on your new record (which ties mine by the way and his 52# Flat head smashes my flathead record)

Congrats to all!! I'd have been proud just to be on the boat when a HOSS like that was caught. I guess you Tennesse Boys is finally starting to figure this catfishin' deal out.;)

Seriously, I'm proud for all of you. Glad you had a chance to spread the word on CPR.

Yes - It was an awesome Catch -- The boat was filled with high fives and big grins ... It is a team effort once a fish like that is on the other end of the line .. There is situating the boat to give him plenty of room .. Netting the fish , which can be difficult with a fish that size . Getting the hook out and the net from around the fish and then getting everything situated to take pictures ... All three of us worked together after Tim caught this beauty to get all that done and get her back in the water -- I am so excited I am going back today ... I am by myself , so I am not sure how well I would do by nyself ....

Let me also add , when I met Tim , he was not much into Catfishin' - He liked to catch those little green fish (and confesses he still does) ... However through the last couple of years , he has become a real Catman . He has picked up a little from a lot of people and put it into use very well . Yesterday he was on , I was kinda marveled by the whole thing . He had his Mojo working .. Spots , rigs ect... He has been in the Catman family for sometime , however he is climbing the ranks something fierce ... Hale to the new Catman chief <GRIN>
