At this moment I am finishing my "WWII D-Day...a battle of heros"

And then the new quizzing will start again. I still have to finish answering Uncle Bubba's quiz on the Civil War (my passion right now)!

D-Day happened June 6, 1944. May 29 I had just turned 15. WWII had a profound effect on children who were growing and just taking in the world around them. Children, like myself, who were in their teens found those times very confusing. It was a lifestyle changer for everyone in the U.S. We would walk through our neighborhoods and see the silver and gold stars hanging inside the living room windows of our neighbors.

The days you saw silver stars replaced with gold stars...those were the days you walked quietly. Coming home from school with your friends, passing homes with the stars, the gold star would slow down your step and a hush would come over all.

We had two silver stars in our window. One for my brother Ethan who was fighting in the Pacific. One for my cousing Junior, who spent most of his time at our house.

The stars never became gold. Praise God! Junior was the Fire Control Officer on the destroyer USS Hazelwood. He was up in the turret firing when Japanese suicide bombers made passes at the Hazewood. One hit the side of the turret. Junior landed on the deck. His captain, sadly, was killed.
Junior was wounded and discharged. Except for some badly chipped teeth, which the Navy took care of, he was pretty OK. It took some time for him to adjust when he came home.

So, Jetty Jumper....after this I'll get back into quizzes. I still have to answer some Civil War questions Uncle Bubba posted. I'm afraid he thinks I've ignored them. I haven't! They're sitting on my desktop.

but you must realize that I've been working on the D-Day project for over a week and I'm going to finish it and post it.

Music Trivia should be a fun Q&A event.

So, let me throw this one out and see who answers first.

What was the name of the radio show that was all music on Saturdays in the 40's?
