the texas and texas a&m game represents what college football is all about. it ranks up there with army vs navy, alabama vs auburn, harvard vs yale and fla vs fla st. we all can remember having thanksgiving with family, friends and relatives and then sitting down to watch the longhorns play the aggies. the game was watch by many, even if you were not a fan of either team. it was a tradition. who didn't get chills watching the fighting texas aggie band playing their war hymn in kyle field. our watching the showband of the southwest marching into memorial stadium in awe, wondering if the progression will ever stop. if you can't get excited about this game your not a true college football fan. we might all rant and rave about which team is better and throw in some personal barbs, but lets not forget what a great game this is. many of the players for both teams know each other. some grew up together and played football with each other and against one another. what a way to represent the great state of texas! too bad it is not played on thanksgiving anymore. this will be the first in 30 years that my closet friend will not be around to watch the game. he past away after a 2 year battle from cancer. we laid him to rest this past sunday. last year i watched the game with brian castille and his family. i could not watch the game with my friend jon, for he was having cemo treatments. this years game will be very emotional time for me , but i would not miss it for the world. the root of this game runs deep for all of us fans. hook em and gig em!
