GSP over Hughes is possible
Munson over Sylvia.....highly unlikely. I think Tim will sit back and box his head out of reach.

your kidding right?

if your not, ultimate fighting championship.

I JUST DONT THINK TIM SYLVIA HAS THE TAKEDOWN DEFENCE TO STOP MONSON. (oops caps lol) sylvia is very easily (all things considered) submitted and he doesnt seam to be working to stop that trend. monson has such a hard head i think he can take a few punchs to get in and get the clinch.once it goes down, tims only chance is lay and pray and jeff munson isnt going to let that happen.

Though GSP is extremely good, I haven't seen anything from Matt Hughes that leads me to believe he can be beat. There are no chinks in his armor. Even when things aren't going his way, he finds a way to turn it in his favor. Just look at his last fight, against BJ Penn. He was getting beat up, but ot him to the ground and worked until he had both arms pinned and starting pounding on his face until the fight was stopped. Another perfect example is his fight against Frank Trigg when he took a low blow that the ref didn't see. That fight was seconds away from being stopped, but he weathered the storm and eventually got him in another rear naked choke. So until he actually gets beat, I can't go against him.

Jeff Monson is good, but the huge reach advantage Sylvia has will be the deciding factor. I saw a fight a while back where Monson fought a guy a lot bigger than him, and he just took a beating to the face because he couldn't get inside to take him down. I think the same thing happens here. Sylvia's reach advantage will be too large an obstacle to overcome. I'm also predicting a boring fight.

By the way, did anyone see the Pete "Drago" Sell/Scott Smith fight last Saturday. Now that was an entertaining fight, with a pretty wild ending, too.

yeah i agree the sell/smith fight was an alltime great especially the ending.
what are the odds of catchingthat punch after the one hetook. awesome.

in your example of the hughes penn fight, you failed to mention the onlything (even hughes admitted after the fight) that saved him was the bell. he was almost done due to armbar/triangle choke but the bell rang. bj used every last bit of energy on that submission and came out dead on his feat in the next round where hughes took over. that will not happen with GSP he will not gass out. bj penn was known for quick wins or loss because he gassed out. he has terrible conditioning and that is what won the fight for matt hughes. as for the frank trigg fight, trigg is a joke, he is not a good fighter and never was, he was a good lower end filler fighter but no competition. GSP got trigg in a RNC also and finished it faster. while iw ill give matt the credit he deserves for being a great champion he has been fighting lesser fighters as of late. the only truely dominant performance from the getgo was against royce gracie and he had no business being in the ring these days. i mean sean sherk? he took matt pretty far and gave him all he could handle and then barely pulled one out over kenflo. GSP has this fight wrapped up. hughes is nervous, only a nervous/scared man tries to belittle he opponent in a croud. GSP keeps his mouth shut (for the most part) and puts it all out there. matt talks to much.

RangerJohn, I've never heard of Ufc before. I guess it's something people under 55 watch.

well while i would say it is a "younger mans" sport i do have some older friends watch it.
it is the next generation of fighting

boxing used to be the only "real fight" but the UFC makes boxing look silly. it is fast becoming one of the most popular sports there are.
thursdays on spike tv they have the ultimate fighter which is a tv show mad by the UFC.

check it out and you might like it. and if you do then let me be the 1st to welcome you to the club so to speak.

Great show on Saturday. I guess Matt 'was impressed with his performance' GSP I mean. Good fight, I think Penn can beat Matt as well, he just wasn't ready. As far as Vera seems like he will be the one to beat, watch out Chuck if he decides to fight in the light heavyweight division. Be nice to see some of the Pride guys vs. UFC guys.
