0-4 and playing the suns tonight, could be a rough one. not howard, dirk looks rusty sometimes, defences is headed back to where it was 2 yrs ago (as in there is no defence) looseing by almost 20 to the clippers, i expected them to loose but thats way more then i expected.

and how about those spurs!!!!!!!!!!!
4-1 and the only loss to "king james" and that game should have been a win but they just couldnt pull it out.
couple days rest then a game then a couple days rest. things are looking good on spurs front.

GO SPURS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Neckdeep sits back and thinks to himself......."I wonder if I become a Spurs fan will anyone notice. I mean dirk von hasselhoff is sucking and I don't know if I can stand it anymore."
Scratches his head and other areas for a minute and decides....."Nah, I'll stick it out with the mavs and take the abuse. I mean how bad can it get? Maybe we'll still make the playoffs as an 8th seed."

well it is amazing to me that there are no mavs fans defending thier team.
if they were winning there would be all kinds of smack but since they have the WORST RECORD IN THE LEAGUE there is still plenty of smack just all against them

and dont give me any of that "its football season" stuff either.

Not sure what's wrong with them, but it sure is great!

I'm enjoying it but we all know they are a much better team than that, right. Can you say Steelers?

Not quite panic time yet....its a long season. But teams are doubling up on Dirk every chance they get...therefore putting more pressure on the rest of the team to execute. Just need to get in a groove...the Phoenix game should be a good one...they are 1-4 correct?

If the mavs can play 4 quarters like they did in the first quarter against the clippers...then who needs defense.

I think too much is being made of it at this point...if it was the middle of the season would a 4 game streak, winning or losing, be such a big deal??

well the biggest issue with dallas's loosing streak is the fact that they played so well last season (at the end anyway) that for them to start this poorly is not a good sign.
and as for making a big deal it is more to goat the mavs guys who talked alot of trash about how great they are and how they are the best team and the spurs where done.
while the season is young, historicly the spurs have gotten better as the season goes along and the mavs just seam to stay the same all season. consistant i guess is the word. if history hold true then the mavs are in for an ugly season, and not just any old ugly but a oberto ugly season. (uglyiest man in sports i think lmao)

They still have lots of games left. I don't see what the big deal is. I think that they are just getting off to a slow start. Once they get everything clicking they will probably go on a pretty good run.

I doubt if "ole big ears" can last a whole season without getting hurt. Being the big cry baby whinner he issee this is more of the un-substantiated claims that i keep hearing from fans of teams that loose.
if you did a little research, in the past 8 yrs that dirk has played (not counting this season) he has missed 53 games for what ever reason, now not counting this season TD has played for 9 seasons and only missed 40 games total. this does not count the playoffs just regular season.
so i dont know where the getting hurt cry baby stuff comes from. i mean heck he was hurt all season last season and missed 2 games due to the flu. sounds like a pretty tough guy to me.

oh wait maybe i missed something, maybe that was a typo and it was not supposed to read whinner but WINNER.

which one of you is this?

Welcome to the Jon Richey poetry blog. I am a obsessive San Antonio spurs fan that writes poetry, transforms trees into bonsai, loves music more than your mom, whose house i've been seen leaving at all hours. My friends and family(the whole crew...you know how you are, bitches), my woman(my fuzzy headed temptress), and my cats(molly and emma) are very important and much loved. I am currently in the process of becoming a park ranger, which tells of another love of mine, nature. I tried to think up some profound life altering things to say here, but this is what you get...douchebag. oh yeah, i like the word "douche" a lot. currently my favorite word. and i wish i still had that beard, but i was told that it was "getting out of hand". again they have not played anyone good

oh and by the way, the starters dont play much ON ANY TEAM IN THE PRESEASON. and the mavs going to the finals and all (as you liek to point out so much) they should not be as rusty as everyone else is, they played more games and more recently then almost every other team.

while the mavs MIGHT go for a #6 the competition they have played has been less then stllar and noone can argue that fact. they have had one of the easiest scheduals so far in the league.
and dont get over confident the bobcats may be 2-7 but they play pretty well against good teams like cleveland and SA. so you can take that as one of two things, if the mavs win then charlotte was playing pourly against a subpar team and if bobcats win then they played well against a good team.

while pop may not be the prettiest man on earth (that would be me) the man can coach and taught you boy avery, everything he knows so you have to give pop credit where it is due. he is the best coach out there and has been for the last 10 years as evidenced by his record.

and 2) none of them look over the age of 21 or 22 so that would just about classify them as girls and not women, borderline anyway.

Step on your throat while you are down and don't get rattled. Took the mavs to 7 games so that was not a steamroll, he77 the ultra soft Rockets team took the mavs to 7 2 years ago, but last year the Spurs were too soft to beat the first place softest team the mavs. Close only counts in horse shoes and hand gernades.....:headknock

as for duncan being old, he is just now 30. the mavs precious dirk is only a year younger. and manu is the same age as dirk and then there is tony who is 23. if it where not for a silly foul and yes i will admit that manu screwed that one the mavs would have been done so by that math (since neck is into math today), the only way the mavs won was because SA was so good they were the only team that could beat the spurs. so by that the mavs where second rate and the spurs beat themselves. and i never said the mavs where soft just DIRK. dirk has no defence. he is no team leader, no real team leader calls a player out in the media, and he did it 2 times last season. that is just one more reason the spurs are better, they keep what ever might be happeneing in house, in house.

you know this is another thing i find funny about mavs fan, they are just "fair weather fans" because i can gaurantee the year before finley was RELEASED he was a fan favorite, yet you call him names and bo him when he comes into town. that man was as good a player as the mavs have ever had and has done nothing but good in dallas and on top of it all, the mavs released him he didnt quit the mavs.

and as for the spurs being slow, defence wins championships not speed, look at the suns. well actually look at dallas. no defence, no championships but then you guys only care about western conf championships not NBA tittles.

thats right they won 7 and i am very proud of those mavs, but need i remind all the mavs fans, they have not beaten a team with a winning record yet? lets lok at the teams they have played shall we?
first the wins:
pho 4-6
por 5-7
chi 3-8
mem (2 times) 2-9
cha 2-8
was 4-6
and now the losses:
SA 9-2
hou 7-4
gs 7-4
lac 6-3

so until they beat someone good, they are still not doing well in my eyes.
while 7 in a row is great it comes at the expence of teams that can win anyway. like the crappy back to back city to city against the griz i mean whats up with that schedualling? i guess we will see just how up to snuff they are friday night when they play SA in SA.

i fear no man and no challenge, the thing is, it is just you so the wager would not be fair it would be 2 on 1 and so when the spurs mop the floor with the mavs what would be the satisfaction in just haveing you change your sig. it is just one person and thats not fair.

well yes the mavs beat the spurs last year in the playoffs, or should i reiderate what i said yesterday, the spurs beat themselves so as i see it the mavs didnt beat us even though they did win. if the spurs had not fouled the mavs would have been done.

The ATT center doesn't scare the Mavs. Isn't that where we put the dagger in their back last year, I believe it is.

oh i dont think that was whinning. and i never said anything about the spurs not fouling. what i am saying is the only way the mavs can beat the spurs is if we beat ourselves. spurs are soo good the only team that can beat them consistantly is the SPURS.

and again we are talking last year so back to the present and those 4th place mavs and the 1st place spurs, or maybe we can call it by the conference and say the 7th place mavs and the 2nd place spurs.

There are mavs, spurs and rockets fans on here. We are all going to root for our team. We will be happy when they win and not happy when they lose, if that ever changes then get another passtime, but as long as that is true all the smack talk and bashing will never serve any constructive purpose I can think of.
I'll be rooting for the Mavs every time they play, I hope they go all the way. I will be in the deer woods this weekend so I will miss the next game, and not miss it at all. Some things are more important that what someone else does.
I have been to hundreds, yes hundreds, of professional sports games including baseball, basketball, football, and ice hockey. I have never once had a confrontation with a fan rooting for the other team .
I may just let you guys have this forum for yourselves, enjoy.

Dirk is Tim Duncans's daddy

well if you read the box scores, the stat lines were pretty close and so i dont think you can call dirk tims daddy just yet.

the only thing the spurs did pourly i nthat game was shoot free throws. they missed ALOT at the line and so that was the desiding factor. especially since the mavs like to foul tim instead of letting him school the youngsters out there.

kinda like hack-a-shaq, cant stop him so foul him and let him beat himself.

Nah, Dirk is good and maybe better than Timmy. What matters though is which team is better. Dallas relies heavily upon the ability of Dirk to trip and fall down and fling the ball into the hoop from half court without looking at the basket just to win regular season games. If Dirk were to get hurt there'd be a big struggle to keep up.

11-27-2006, 10:12 AM

rangerjohn
11-27-2006, 10:16 AM
well if yo go look at the stats this season, it would look something liek this.
TD points-22.9 rebounds 10.9 steals .5 assists 3.4 blocks 1.43 to 3.6 fouls 2.6 MINUTES 34.5

dirk points 26.5 rebounds 10.4 steals .54 assists 3.1 blocks 1 to 2.2 fouls 2.8 and MINUTES 38

so they seam to be pretty close on all of these lines except dirk plays about 4.5 minutes longer per game then TD. does. because he has the support of his team to pick up so he can rest.

the sign of a real championship TEAM. (not a one man show.)

here you go just a little C&P from fox sports this morning
The NBA's best

Since more and more NBA watchers have ventured to rank the league's best players, it likewise behooves me to do the same. However, for the sake of brevity, here are what I consider to be the league's top seven players:

1. Tim Duncan: Because he does everything. Score, rebound, pass and defend. And because an outstanding big can directly and indirectly influence any given ball game much more so than a little or a medium.

2. Kobe Bryant: Because he also can do everything (when the spirit and/or Phil Jackson moves him). Kobe is certainly the best non-big in the game, a superb rebounder, an unparalleled clutch scorer, a terrific practitioner of both perimeter shot-making and irresistible penetrations, a potential shut-down defender (see the above qualification) and an adept (if not always an eager) passer. It's his versatility that separates him from the other non-centers.

3. Dwyane Wade: Because of his dynamic talents, his clutch performances and because he works hard to improve his weaknesses (defense and outside shooting).

4. LeBron James: Because of his rare combination of skills, speed and strength. LBJ is not rated any higher because his defense is still atrocious, and because his long-distance dialing remains iffy.

5. Steve Nash: Because of the (nearly) unblemished fashion in which he orchestrates the Suns' offense. Indeed, it's Nash's vision, unselfishness and ability to create his own shot opportunities that have unilaterally made a terrific team out of what is only a good team. His only flaws are a total lack of straight-up defense and a fragile physique.

6. Shawn Marion: Because he can score without having his number called, he can rebound like a big and he can play top-notch defense (albeit not as consistently as he used to). 7. Chauncey Billups: Because he's a master of all trades. In the clutch, Billups can come up with whatever play is needed to produce a win — from a score to a rebound to a stop to a perfect pass.

ok so dallas has josh howard and who else? hmm let me think.... nope noone is coming up looks liek the rest of the players are lost with out dirk.

now the spurs on the other hand have 3 allstars. oh and did i mention that barry won the slam dunk contest his rooky year also oh and he is also i nthe top 5 on 3 point percentage. oh and ginobili is the ONLY player i nteh nba to ever win a gold metal and nba championship a world championship and a euro championship. and 3 of those he did in one year. oh and he was the dunk champion the same year he won the euro championship. oh and did i also mention barry has won 3 point chamionships and the 3 point contest.

so where were we? oh yes those fabulous mavs and their "team concept"
whos on that team again? dirk and who? josh howard? and who??? ohhh thats right avery johnson oh wait he doesnt play anymore and learned everything he knows from pop.

1. Tim Duncan, San Antonio Spurs: The most effective and consistent big man in the game.

2. Kevin Garnett, Minnesota Timberwolves: His exceptional talent translated to team success last season.

3. Jermaine O'Neal, Indiana Pacers: He's on the same track as Garnett was; we'll see if he keeps improving.

4. Elton Brand, Los Angeles Clippers: His continued growth as a player sometimes gets lost being on the Clippers.

5. Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas Mavericks: He struggled some last year with all the new players up front; it should be better this season.

6. Chris Webber, Sacramento Kings: He'd better have a great year considering all of his mouthing off, but we don't know if he's still got it.
7. Rasheed Wallace, Detroit Pistons: He doesn't have gaudy statistics, but he proved to be the prototype team player to push the Pistons to a title.

8. Zach Randolph, Portland Trail Blazers: There will always be questions about Zach's head, but he's a great scorer and good rebounder.

9. Kenyon Martin, Denver Nuggets: Now that he's away from Jason Kidd, we'll find out the real deal about K-Mart quality playing in the West.
10. Pau Gasol, Memphis Grizzlies: He's clearly one of the best international players, we'll see how that translates this season.
Also given consideration: Amare Stoudemire, Phoenix Suns; Carlos Boozer, Utah Jazz; Kenny Thomas, Philadelphia 76ers; Al Harrington, Atlanta Hawks; P.J. Brown, New Orleans Hornets.

LMAO!! Diap and Dampier?

I'll give you Devin, he's about half as good as Tony Parker so that's pretty good. Jason Terry can shoot nice jump shots, but he's not the type of player that rallies the team. Is Howard even a starter?

hey just because you cant read the fine print doesnt make the man a welcher or a crawfish.
seams to me you should have gotten a little more info. oh and just to show there are no hard feelings i will put the $50 up to the site this week anyway (even thought you didnt have enough faith in your team to take the bet) fair weather fan!!!!!!!!!

i seam to remember someone (not naming any names here) who quickly jumpped off the cowboys band wagon when they where 500 and now they arewinning and they are the greatest team ever. so make up your mind. let me guess you "dont even care about basketball" when the mavs are loosing. as a mater of fact there were not many comments from the neck during the 4 game loosing skid.

hmmmm strange isnt it

see thats just it, SA doesnt need any other teams becasue we have the spurs and they win. we dont need the oher sports to bounce around to becasue our team is consistantly at the top of the food chain in sports.

oh and here is the ranking of all the teams in all major sports in the usa and who is rated #1 hmm let me see oh wait is that the spurs?

That's funny, we in SA are more true fans of the Cowboys than all the fair weather fans like you. :p I remember you repeatedly sayinig "Cowboys are a 500 team." and here in SA we still had hope for them. I'll root for the Cowboys whether they're doing good or not, unlike most local Dallas fans.

cant get away fro mthe truth neck fair weather fans are not real fans.

oh and just a few standings for "your teams"
mavs 6th in the league
stars 6th in the league
cowboys 8th in the league
and rangers where 15 games out of the wild card. with an 80-82 record.

so right now your hopes are riding on the mavs because they have gotten off on a deent (not great) winning streak, and the cowboys who have won a couple of good games and look silly in other games that wehre supposed to be easy.
