Wow the 28th ranked defense in the league gets a "B" the defense should be the "F" without a doubt...the defense is horrible. All the others seems about right maybe O-line gets a "D". Undoubtedly they are the reason for such a low RB production and some of Carr's problems.

The D stunk early but has gotten a lot better. Getting back faggins, peek and wong have helped..plus mario has finally started to play decent....Demeco Ryans is a stud....

If Casserly wouldnt have been a moron in the 05 draft he could have gotten Derrick Johnson instead we got Travis Johnston who has done nothing. Just imagine our LB's with DJ and Ryans for the next 10 years. Another Brilliant move by Casserly to go along with Carr, Babin, Vernand Morency, Phillip Buchanon etc etc

DJ would have been nice, but so would have the tackles Jammal Brown and Alex Barron (who I believe was picked in the spot we traded down from to get Travis Johnson)... I agree with the Babin/Buchanon moves being dumb but I'm not sure if you can really pick on Morency. The guy was just a 3rd round pick and played about like one, and has done ok with Green Bay since being traded.

I know everyone is talking about how they need to pick up some stud quarterback or running back first round next year but I still think it would be a better idea to grab an OLB to pair up with Ryans. The Texans can NOT stop the run so it would be nice to give Ryans a little help, plus if you look back over the last few drafts almost all of the 1st round linebackers have made an immediate impact and almost every year are contenders for defensive rookie of the year. Guys like Jonathan Vilma, DJ Williams, Derrick Johnson, Shawne Merriman and this years' Ernie Sims and AJ Hawk... none of whom got the hype that the QB's and RB's did going into the draft but they were the most talked about after draft day

Ok this got me thinking so I looked at the drafts over the last three years and here are all the linebackers taken in the first round since 2003 in order:
(03)Nick Barnett, (04) Vilma, DJ Williams, JASON BABIN, (05) Demarcus Ware, Shawne Merriman, Derrick Johnson, David Pollack

Hmmm which one of these guys doesn't fit in...? It looks like Casserly even managed to screw up and pick the only linebacker over the last 3 years to not be productive

Didn't Pollack reinjure his neck and his career may be over?

QB: C- Car has improved some but he is still not any where he should be especially considering the fact that he has been in the league for 5 years. It is a very telling fact that Kubiak does not trust Carr enough to call his own audibles.

RB: D Quality play from the RB position has been non-existant this year with the exception of the Jacksonville game.

WR,TE: B+ The lone bright spot on this team. Andre Johnson is showing why he was the second player taken in the draft overall. He is a straight up stud. Moulds has been as advertised. The tight end position is the strongest it has ever been for the Texans.

OL: C+ Injuries have been a problem. Still, this years O-line has done a much better job of pass blocking with the exception of Weigart who has been a turnstile at RT. Run blocking could be a lot better, but a large part of the blame there can be given to poor RB play

DL: C Marios growth is fun to watch. The guy will be an absolute monster for years to come. Other than that the other guys have done little to distinguish themselves. There has not been nearly enough pass rush from the front 4 and they have not stopped the run too well. I really think this unit will step it up the 2nd half of the season and end up as a strong position for the team.

LB: D+ This is based on an A- to B+ for Demeco Ryans and an F for everybody else. The Texans absolutely must get better at the OLB spots to compete in the NFL.

DB: C- the secondary has been dramatically improved with the return of Faggins. The safeties have been very bad this year. Glen Earl is a good hitter and has shown some improvement of late.

Kicking: F What else can you say. Chad Stanley is an imposter. He has no business being on an NFL roster. Kris Brown should have been cut last year. Horrible.

Special Teams: C Return teams have been a joke. Hopefully Mathis will return soon. He is sorely needed. Coverage teams have been very good with the exception of the Pac Man Jones punt return last week.

Coaching: Inc. C, if I have to give them a grade. I really think that they are doing a good job but have very little talent they have to work with. The offensive game plan is light years ahead of Capers' and the defense is finally rounding into shape. This team still makes too many dumb mistakes, but i really do not know how much of that to lay on this current coaching staff. This team should be competitive in the second half of the season. I expect 5-6 wins in the end.

Charley Casserly gets a lifetime F for the horrible job he did for the first years building this team.
