Ok, here is todays thread on the Texans.
Carr looked like he got smacked real good last week. He did a pretty good job running the offense and his TD dive right up the middle was "gutsy". My reaction was holey $*** did you see that!! I am glad to see they realize they have TE that can catch and run.
The dropped swing pass on the first drive was a killer, and the catch and fumble by Cook in the last drive cost them the game.
No mud on Carr's shoes this week!!!
Running game is still lacking and the motion penalties AGH!!!!!!!
Defense played very well but they couldn't cotain the last Giant drive.
Special teams lacking...they need some attention.
this is off topic but I think it is strange that people can arrange illegal poker games but cant talk about sports without getting dropped to the cellar.

I see progress.
The defense is improving every week.
I can live without the jump shot krap.
The Giants play a mean D themselves but the Texans still had a shot at the end.
I think its going in the right direction.
Another losing season means I get better seats for 2007.
I liked the jump shot! :D

One of the biggest negatives I saw was Carrwrecks total immaturity when he scored. I understand being excited but when you are paid to do things for a living, why make an @ssss out of yourself when you're suppose to be the leader. All that did was fire up a total stadium, unfortunately it was in NY, and fired up the opposing team.
Act like a leader, like you know what you are doing and more people will follow in your footsteps.
It is in general discussion, not as low as the politics board. shoot, it is under politics, I didnt think sports was that bad.
There is a poker board for that.:D

I know very little about football, but have been racing one thing or another, or in some sort of competative activity for 40 years. I have learned that if you think you cant win, you wont. Being confident is imperative in winning. So lets break it down.
Last week Carr got benched. This week, he took the ball at the goal line, and dove over the top like a good RB would! Thats a pretty good reason to get fired up.
BTW, was it a good play? Or are you here just to complain bro? :D

They still lost the game they are now 2-6. They have never had a season where they had a winning record. So Carr looked a little better, he did not win and until he is replaced with a QB that knows how to be a field general a true leader they will be losers.

Well then, lets move him to RB. It's obvious he can't win as a QB, maybe his calling is a runner.
And being a confident person...you always expect the best. These guys act surprised when something goes good. If I was a confident QB in the NFL, I would expect to score and when it happened I wouldn't need to dance....
Now to answer is it a good play. Technically NO. When you have a designed pass and you bail before you have too, you didn't make the proper reads. Jumping at the goal line is usually a bad thing because you now loose all leverage. A fumble prone QB running in that situation is always a bad move.
Did he get lucky and everything work out...YES.
OH YEAHHH...let me ask you a question... DID HE WIN???http://www.2coolfishing.com/ttmbforum/images/icons/icon12.gif
And BTW, thats why Mont put this down here...I can complain all I want now.http://www.2coolfishing.com/ttmbforum/images/icons/slimer.gif

Getting back to the topic. Big improvement. For those that watched the entire game the comments by the announcers on the Texans and Carr was dead on. Its nice to hear comments where people actually know what they are talking about. The Texans hung in there with a pretty good team. Looks like they are starting to gel. Carr haters, get over it, he's not going anywhere.

Oh, I assume you're talking about me. Well lets disect the reports on ole "gangster wannabe".
First off, he's in his 5th year starting in the NFL and NOW he works on mechanics. How to hold the ball with both hands, hold it close to his sternum ( I watched too), hold it higher when ready to throw. Yeah, your gonna say, well he finally has a coach that knows something about QB's, that does't dismiss the fact that his mechanics are horrible and why on earth would you voluntarily give up this season to reteach a guy who was suppose to be a No. 1 pick how to play correctly when you have the option to bench him and use a guy who already does it right.
OK, lets look at....DID HE WIN???? NO. NEXT
Can he lead a team when they get in the red zone? Didn't put up the numbers winning QB's put up. Yea, Brown missed a FG, I guess we should have been closer.
He got really lucky that he didn't throw 2 INT's. I guess thats why they are DB's and not wide recievers.
The defense played exceptional. They are the ones that kept the Texans close. Not the QB.
He averaged 8.5 yards per completion. THAT SUCKS. He had plenty of time to find open recievers and to throw it to them. He didn't find out he had a tight end until last week when the BACKUP threw to him numerous times with great success.
I guess being an ex-high school offensive cooridinator would allow me more leeway than YOU...who doesn't know what they are talking about (your comment) to assess the abilities of a second rate QB being used as a starter.http://www.2coolfishing.com/ttmbforum/images/icons/icon10.gif
Yes, he played better...BUT THE WHOLE GAME WAS DESIGNED TO MAKE HIM HAVE SOME SUCCESS. With that said...you give a game away...to make a guy succeed, but not to try and win a game. Thank the defense for keeping it close.
I'm not a Texans hater............Just want Carr gone. He needed to be gone before he even got here.
God I love this board. THANKS MONT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[C'mom, Carr is terrible. He may have had a decent game today, but he's had almost five years and he's still not worth a ****. I know he's had numerous coordinators, but his guy just does not come off as very bright. Have you seen this guy give a post game interview with his hat turned backwards? He looks like a brain-dead ninteen-year old.
Truth is, yall dont like him because he is from California and a good looking kid, like I used to be!
I bet many wives love Carr, and husbands are jealous! :D

I ain't jealous. Ma dressed up like a Carr stalker for Halloween. I am still on board with DC though my patience is wearing thin. He was okay today and NY has a solid D.

God I love this board. THANKS MONT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Yep they really shut down that Giants running game. The Giants could've run every play and still won that game.
It really does crack me up that all you Carr haters have nothing better to do. Even when Carr plays good he still gets blamed. He wasn't the one that fumbled late in the 4th, missed the FG or the one that let the Giants RBs run at will. He didn't throw any INTs and I don't remember any passes that were that bad that should have been intercepted like you seem to beleive, since he should have had 2.
Also, you're right the gameplan was designed for him to have success, but what other team doesn't gameplan for the QB to have success. How about Big Ben in Pittsburg last year? All he had to do was manage that game and give the ball to the great cast of players around him. The asked very little of him and what they did plan for him to do was have SUCCESS, just like every other team out there. They are trying to do the same thing this year, but Big Ben looks terrible, even worse than Carr.
You can't only blame Carr for this teams failures. Sure he has been pretty bad at times, but there are 10 other guys out there sucking as bad as he is. We will get better if we have another couple of drafts like we had this year we will be in good shape in a few years. At this point wins and loses aren't extremely important, what I want to see is the effort and improvement every week. The defense is certainly showing that but they still have a long way to go. The offense is going back and forth, but they will develop in time. I still think the loss of Domanick Davis is still a very underatted loss for this team and it is not something that is often mentioned.

Also, what the hell does it matter if his hat is backwards or not? That and the ganster wannabe, what do those things have to do with anything? That has no reflection of how he plays on the field. I'm not sure what you are trying to imply by that statement, but it's a ridiculous comment to make.

That and the ganster wannabe...............I'm not sure what you are trying to imply by that statement, but it's a ridiculous comment to make.I don't think Louie is trying to imply anything. I think he is saying pretty plainly that any good football team has a mature QB with leadership skills and David Carr doesn't fit that definition. All top QBs may not have outstanding athletic skills (Delhomme pops to mind), but in pro ball the top ones are all quiet, confident, low key leaders. They don't have the "look at me" attitude of a wide receiver.
I haven't given up on Carr yet. He has all the physical tools and is one heck of an athlete. If he can develop the intangibles, he might get there yet. But to pretend that he has shown anything so far that would lead one to believe that he will develop into a top tier NFL QB is to deny the obvious. He is 1/3 of the way through his pro carreer and he is much closer to an Aaron Brooks than a Peyton Manning.

Carr reminds me of Jeff George....... loads of physical talent with nothing between the ears.
