starting to quit today

Three years three months and 18 days ago I put down beer and have not touched it since, but I have yet to be able to put down the tobacco I used snuff for about 30s off and on and have smoked for about 22 I quit in may when a spot was found on my left lung it was determinded to be a fungus in august.
On 22July06 my dad fell off the roof of his motor home three days later had to help my mom take him off life support, after that I went down hill and started again with just one drag. well today I am going to stop I want to be around to see me grand kids and take them fishing like my dad did for my kids so here goes it is now 1630 hrs and no smoke since 0730 this am. 8 hours down a new life to go. The same way I did with the beer 1 day at a time.

We have had a few new members here lately. Welcome to the group. We sign roll call every morning which affirms that you will be tobacco free that day. Hope to see you there in the morning. Post up if you get the urge.

well here I sit about 14 hours since my last smoke and I have had a rough time in the few hours sitting at my computer is the toughest time but good news I made it this far. I may not post up at role call every day but I will do it every day possible only have email at work. thanks for the support. David

Still hanging in. I have been without for almost 24 hours now andI made it through the night without a smoke I guess it is not that bad I am a paramedic/firefighter in Seguin and it has been an easy night so that is a good thing keep 'em coming and the road will be paved in gold. I am waiting to see a roll call post on here to sign up for today and many to come I hope I just realized that when I'm fishing that smoking gets in the way of realing in all those big ones.
