...in the middle of the afternoon.
Jeff,my fishin' partner, wanted to go fishing Fri.and Saturday nights...I couldn't make it,but, felt bad(his dad just passed away),so,told him we'd hit it Sunday afternoon, which we did.I had explained to Jeff my thoughts about possibly tryin' the daylight hrs.for stripers and some daytime lake recon...he agreed.
Jeff showed up about 3pm,with a guy I'd not met before,Carl.Carl lives in front of a pond that has been neglected and is full of 6-8" jumbo golden shiners.Did I mention that Carl is my newest fishin' buddy?!? Carl and Jeff netted 100 huge shiners and they now live in my bait tank...unlimited supply,he said..anytime I want!!!Sooooo....we went and drifted the edge of "the flats",along the channel edge with 4 downlines-3 baseball bobbers drifted behind...and abarrel full of killer bait....Overcast all day,drizzled/misted ,and 1 other boat seen all day....No strikes there.Rode down to the mouth of the creek I live on,Holly Grove, and had a pretty 1.5 hr. drift in to the dock, with 2 ''pulldowns"but no takers.I really enjoyed being out on the water yesterday..it was a brisk, misty ol' day...but real enjoyable!
Also, got a new livebait source...jumbo's around here run about a buck apiece!
BTW,Hawk....my ol' buddy, from over in Carolina,Tony...his sisterinlaw dates Mr. Bigg's(striperman)son.Tony had dinner with him at his lake house Friday night and called from there to invite me over for a drink.I unfortunately was not home when he called!May have to play on that angle!!!!

Dat's GOOOOOOOD bait around here. We had a guy last year that gave us all the jumbo goldfish that we could catch, but they had to be caught with a hook, couldn't catch dem with a net, too fast, but the blues SLAUGHTERED them. I wish I had about 6 dozen of dem shiners, cause de blues on Pickwick love dem more.

Till dey floated belly up, but I don't know if dat's before the fish hit em or not. We have really good luck with regular shiners about 3 or 4 on a hook, drifted over the channel.
