Does not happen often for me but I went fishing on upper Buchanan (up river a ways). I thought (used loosely) that the fish might be trying to fatten up before winter. And it rained a lot Thurs. night so I figured they would be stirred up a bit.

When I got there I noticed the water was not moving much at all. I have no idea where all the rain went. maybe it was just soaked up into dry soil. I know it rained a couple inches at least but oh well.

We put out a total of 12 juglines and then fished with 4 R&R's from about 5-7:30 pm. I caught 1 #2 blue. Then my uncle says look at that jug way over there it keeps going under. So we go over and land a 31.2 # flattie.

After that we caught nothing until we were leaving and had 3 stripers and 1 8# blue on the juglines.

But for 4 hours of fishing we did pretty good.

AND my freaking digital camera would not work of course. I took a couple pics with an old camera in the dark. I will see if anything turns out and if so I'll post a pic.

That's great,Bigcat!A30+ fish on a jug is a blast, ain't it?And 4 striped ones, too?Definately a good 4 hr. trip!!!Have you noticed that the jug furthest from the boat is inevitably the one that will recieve the next bite?:headknock You don't have your location on your posts...where's the Upper Buchanan located?

Central Texas

It actually was the 2nd from the last jug LOL

And it was great because the first 2 times I reached for it it was drug under, completly. And I use 1 gallon jugs.

I'm still working on pics. The film was brand new(of course) so I'm trying to waste film but the camera will not work. I'm just taking it in with 8 pics on it. screw it.

i was in somerville last jug out , and i couldnt get my motor started and had to chase a jug with a trolling motor and a paddle in 15mph winds . real fun

Bigcat...let's see them pics when ya get 'em back!
Bigreave....dude,that's how I chase my jugs, with the trollin' motor....gives the big girls time to wear off some of that excess energy...plus it adds to the "visual stimulation"to watch 2.5 gallon jugs get jerked under a few times!!:D I use the big motor, when pickin' up(gatherin'for the next drift)or chasin' strays.

I think that was a worthy trip. I used to chase jugs with a trolling motor, but started using big motor when the wind got up. It is a fun time when you reach for the jug and it goes under like a crappie cork ;)
