Stuck on the Beltway getting on to I-10 this morning, I debated wether to get one last dip of the Grizzly or save it for the work day. Decided the moment was going to come regardless and might as well start now...

I'm sitting at my desk without a spit-cup and without a can in my pocket for the first time in about 8 years. I remember quitting smoking about 12 years ago, and am not really looking forward to the predictable cravings and irritability, but I do look forward to not having to pick junk out of my teeth, not dealing with nasty spit-cups, not spending the money, and not hearing my 7 year old gripe at me for doing things he learned at school that is bad for you!

I really appreciate that a lot of you are going to be going through this as well and I wish you all the best.

God Bless Us All!

Kelly

Congrats KellyL, we are here for you Bro. Keep it up. Better get you some sunflower seeds or something of the like just to help with the oral fixation thing.

More power to all of you. Those who succeed will regard it as the best thing you have ever done for yourself, it's a great feeling. You can do it!

Of all the times I have quit I have felt so good. No cup, cans, or bottles sitting around the house, work, truck. My mouth has felt better and then WHAM!!! I have this lil devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other telling me to go buy a can, NO don't do it arguing back and forth. Then I go buy a can and feel guilty about it. I believe with this support group it will be alot easier for me to quit. I have been trying to quit since last November and the longest I've gone is 6 months. I have never tried this with fellow dippers and it should help.

BTW, my first dip was at 5 yrs old. My mom likes to to this story. I came home one day after playing with a freind and I wasn't feeling very well. My mother said my face looked really green and pale so she put me to bed trying to figure out why I was so sick. A few minutes later my friend came back to see if I could come out and play. My mom said, when she opened the door he had this huge wad in his mouth with brown stains around his lips  . Then it hit her.

Congrats on your decision Kelly! Do yourself a favor and vacuum out all your vehicles, clean the area around your desk, clean anywhere you dipped and get all of the scraps that have fallen out of your can the last few years. Also, think of anywhere you may have left an old can and chunk it. And when you have cravings, get in here and read and post. Good luck
