Well - I decided to play hooky from work today .. We were worried about T-storms , however after watching the weather like a Hawk .. We decided we would certainly get wet , just didn't want to see any lightning ... Met up with Richard (A new friend of mine and owener of a local business) at my place about 10:30 -- Not to long after that - We were on our way ..
The rain was light and we decided to give it a try .. Richard was armed with Liver and I had some Frozen skipjack , just in case we could not catch fresh ... Glad I brought it ... Skip jack were not cooperating .. We floated some liver down below the dam and right away started catching Channels ... After a few trips drifting below the dam and then back up again .. I tied up my big rig , armed with an 8/0 gamakatsu and a big ole piece of Skip Jack .. First trip down I got a good hit and a few minutes later , we boated a 15# blue ... I was hopeful for much larger fish , however this was to be the largest of the day ... All in all we caught 26 fish .. Mostly cats with a few Stripers mixed in ... A good portion of the cats were in the 6 - 8# range and plenty in the 4# range .. One Striper was about 6# ...
An enjoyable day on the river -- Hope to met up with Mr. Big Blue in the next few weeks .. It has been a month or two since I have tangled with a Hawg and I am getting anxious ...
All fished were released today =)
