I was fishing the Brazos river this weekend, Friday night and Saturday during the day were really good. I started to notice the river was rising, I was fishing with one of my dad's friends who is down there every weekend and he said that when the lake releases water into the river the bite stops. Sure enough Saturday evening we went to check lines and all our bait was still on the hook. Sunday morning we checked them again, same story. Has anyone else ever heard of this?

On a normal weekend it is not uncommon to catch 25 nice blues, channel and yellowcats.

in my experience the fishing has gotten considerably better when the river has rose from one day to the next. We caught alot more as the river rose. I have some buddies that set lines all the time and i know they like when the river is high.

This is true when the river rises from rain water!

I have seen the bite stop when water is coming from the lakes. I know several people that live on the river and claim they can tell when Somerville is releasing by the way the water looks. They say the fishing is no good.

Well that makes sense, I've fished a rise due to rain and done pretty well. This lake water rise threw me off a bit.

I don't know if that strech of river/lake has golden alge, could it have something to do with the golden alge that might be in the lake water? I used to fish below the Whitney dam and catch stripers, cats, whites, everything would go on a good bite when they released and shut off when the gates did.
