So I was over in Mississippi, working on my grandmother's house with my uncle and we decided to clean out the workshop. Lots of neat old stuff was found, but in a rotted canvas sheath lodged above the rafters I found what looks to be a very old split bamboo fly rod. We guessed that it must have been owned by my grandfather. It is constructed in sections and has 2 separate tips. The eyes and the reel metal were very deteriorated. The place where the reel attaches actuall fell apart, but the bamboo itself looks quite good. Is something like this worth anything or should I junk it? It is no use to me. I tried fly fishing and I'm one of those idiots who just don't get it. My uncle said I could have it as he had never seen his father use it and it held no sentimental value to him. I wouldn't mind selling it if it was worth something to somebody. Thought this was a good place to ask. - Coach

Can you read the name on it or any other information? It would probably be written right above the cork on the bamboo. You'll need that to find out if it has any value.

Sandy bring it back to the neighborhood I have several bamboos and have fished with the ones I have. Might be I can ID it I have several reference books. It may cost more than it is worth to repair. They made a million of them during the 40s and 5os. Would like to see it.
The yard looks good, have had a lot of rain and had to mow it more than usual. George and I have kept ahead of it.

Well, LostAlaskan has had a look at it and he figured it was built during the 40s, but says it would not be worth it to restore it. If any of y'all would like to have it for a wall hanger or to fiddle with, just send me a PM and it is yours. - Coach
