first offshore

I finally took my flyrod offshore. That probably wasn't a good idea, I'm hooked now and need more tackle. I destroyed my first fly the right way, the fish tore it up. I filled the livewell with hardtails and got 10 or 12 chickens in the fishbox. Everyone I talked to said you can't take a 4wt offshore. Well, it's all I have so that's what I used. It was a blast. I need a 8 and 10wt now, any suggestions on an affordable one. I just need the reels. I build all my rods.

Check out the Gold Cup fly reels that Bass Pro has. They are pretty much bullet proof and are resonably priced compared to similar reels.

Way to go. Need to come down here to Costa Rica and go fishing with us for sails and marlin. It is something to watch the billfish eat your fly right off the back of the boat.
