Bigfost joined us for a day on the lake. It was great to fish with him and getting to meet his fine wife. The lake was in good shape, water clear, but still a pretty low. We caught a decent catch of whites at the hump early and one nice striper 26", but they cutoff quick, about 9:45. We cruised the island with no real luck and then went to Browders for a few more whites.
The evening bite just didn't get going, only a few more, but good size. Only one decent blue (5lbs) for the whole day.
The day was mostly about good fishing tales with Bigfost, a fine lunch at Florida's Kitchen and a relaxing evening shooting the breeze with new friends. Any body else catch any fish on Livingston today?

we went on the back side of the island and nothing then trolled some flats and caught an 18" white and a couple of little ones. Didnt really fish that long. Trip was just to test the boat after we got it out of the shop. But people ive talked to say that fishing was good a wk or 2 ago but this wk was a little slow.

An 18" white is an awesome fish! Are you sure it wasn't a hybrid ( check their tounge, if it has two teeth patches it's a hybrid or striper). Yeah fishing for me was good up untill yesterday, then it slowed down alot.
I'll be taking advantage of the long holiday weekend next week and be at Livingston for a few days. I'll probably spend most of my time chasing white bass on the upper end of the lake around Onalaska down to Penwaugh peninsula. Pine Island is a little far to motor in my 14' aluminum boat, any recommendations for good catfish locations up on that northern end?

Guyj, I don't fish the upper end much, but I do have friends that do. They catch good blues on the north side of the 190 bridge 150 yards out close to the bridge part, usually some birds around sitting on the water there. they always catch good whites on the old 190 road bed on the south side of the causway. Good luck and I will be looking for the report.

Carol and I had a great time fishing and visiting with Shadslinger and his wife this weekend. I am by no means a freshwater fisherman, and the fishing was great, compared to my freshwater trips in the past. While we didn't catch 100 fish, we did manage a good mess by the end of the day. More important than that was getting to know another fine fishing couple. We are looking forward to a long friendship with Loy and Karen.

We fished from daylight till 11:30 Sunday morning. Fished the 190 road bed for 2 hours - picked up two fish! Spend the rest of the morning bouncing slabs at the Lump with about 15 other boats - picked up 10 fish.
Things have really slowed down, but it was nice to spend the day on the water.
Anybody see the fool in the trick airplane Sunday afternoon around pine island!

I was not there Sunday, but I have seen many trick airplanes straffing the island. Scott, you should try some lower lake spots as the summer wears on, it usually gives up more and bigger whites than the roadbed,IMHO. Send me a PM for more lower lake spots.
