White bass have scattered from the hump but can still be caught around the island trolling. The catfish are still bitting well midday in the middle of the lake. I caught 4 this morning from 2lbs to about 15lbs on cut mullet/perch.

Shadslinger, is that hump closer to the dam than it is to the island? There is a lot of deep water around the island. How deep you trollin'? I'll be fishing the 190 end on Sunday through tuesday.

Get yer bite on!

I usually vertical jig for whitebass with slab or willow leaf style spoons, if I can't find them then I troll with four rods with jet divers and pet spoons on 18 to 24" leaders. I use two 20' jet divers and one 30' and one 10'. Then switch every rod to the depth that's getting hit the most, or stop and jig where I find them. The hump is about 1.5 miles from the state park ramp about 260 degrees NW on a line towards the east end of the island. It is about .5 mile or more from the island to the south, sotheast. There is a spot where the water is 19' at this time, and a large top that has 22' foot water. The river comes close by and it drops to 60'+ going northeast real quick, the water to the south side of the hump is about 35'. There is usually a few boats around early and late. I hope you catch them on the roadbed and I will be looking for the report.

Whites are a really cool gamefish, willing, hard fighters, and take arties great. I caught my first about 45 years ago in lake Arlington, close to Ft. Worth, while bass fishing with my dad. I said "what kind of fish is this?" he said white bass! and started casting to them! we caught a million of them out of that lake over the next 3 decades.
I think they deserve their own site here, what do you say maybe "White&Stripes"? They are related and both great gamefish.
