you bet your bottom dollar it is. Here's the report...
Me and dad trolled around the Penwaugh area Saturday...we didn't do to bad...picked up about 30 white bass. Until we went into the boat dock and ran into several boats that said "man, the bass where schooling out there on the 190 road bed." AAAh we had enough to clean.
Brought dad out to the bar Saturday night so my memory of Sunday isn't that good...no neither of us drink..just age.
But generally we headed out to the 190 road bed the next morning and picked up about 30 more. The most memorial being...late Sunday afternoon, me and dad where trolling around the first 190 marker. When dad sang out that he was "hung up". Now I thought that was kinda funny being we where right on top of the road bed. But dad can hang up in unusual places, so I spun the boat around. He tugged and pulled the rod. I am getting flustred. But ole Kenny boy ain't as dumb as you think. I grad the pole, and tug tug...them bam it tugs back. ott ole..either trot line pulled tight ..or big ole cat. I reeled in dad’s big cat. Nice one about 5 or 6 lbs. Dad hooked him in the fin. Whew. Made our fishing trip that night.
Monday, we headed out for the walker’s lake area..we had seen several boats picking them up in that area the day before. So I told dad on the way out there, “watch the fish are going to be around the bucket today, as we go out here”. We throw out our jugs then went and trolled some. Checked jugs and they had a couple....re-baited and trolled some more....this time the jugs had two nice cats, and a couple of more. But we only picked up a few white bass as we trolled. We pick up and headed for the bucket ...throw out the jugs and bam..I marked a school of white‘s. We picked up 50 in one hour. Thank goodness the lake was calm and the ole jugs just floated. Plenty to clean this time!
Bring’s back an ole saying ‘when your getting tangled your having fun”. me and dad had just got tangled before we got into that school....we’re both frustrated...we sure where happy as we reeled them in two at a time. Nice catch...
Seemed everybody was wearing a sun burn and smile this weekend.
I heard pine island is doing good. If you can find drop offs coming up to about 12 to 13 ft. you ll find some white bass.
This is dad and his cat...then us after Monday’s catch.
