I'm still waiting for the weather/boat motor to get right before I get to try out the fly rig in the salt for the first time. I was thinking earlier today...that's new for me!! With the length of a fly rod do most people use nets or can you hand land fish very easy with a fly rod? I hand land all of my fish while wadefishing and was just curious????

I hand land all my fish even in surf, but , not to say, it is much easier with a net....

I've always hand-landed my fish caught with my fly rod. A Boga Grip certainly helps too. I carry one clipped to one of my rear belt loops when I'm wading. It stays out of the way until needed, but is then very handy.

I use a net if I'm keeping them, hand-land if releasing...

I Build Some Of The Most Beautifull Fly Rods Made. And I Could Not Tell If You Need A Net Or Not. Simply Because I Have Never Caught A Saltwater Fish . I Really Want To Do This Thing. I Have Sold Fly Rods From New York To Alaska, Florida To California And Live 15 Minutes From Galv. Bay And Have Not Done It Yet. Could Someone Fix This For Me . I Need To Know If I Need A Net Or Not.
