Howdy all,

My wife recently got me an amb. 7000 that I want to use for tarpon and kingfish. I was curious as to the rod you guys would recommend? I want to be able to cast plugs as well as drift baits.

Thanks for the help.

Falcon makes a Coastal Series rod that, if memory serves, is designated a "tarpon special." It works nicely with a Garcia 7000 or Shimano 700.

I second the motion on the Falcon Tarpon Special. They come in two line test ranges. I use a Shimano Calcutta 400 with 300 yards of 30 power pro and it is so nice. I have a Abu 7000 with 20# big game that also works great in this application. The rod is about 95-$100. Enjoy, Gary

Thanks for the replies everyone. I think the falcon will fit the bill nicely. I suppose I will have to go to BPS since the academy's around me are bad.

Don't count on BPS to have these. They may, but you are better off going to Cutrate.

I purchased a house rod from Fishing Tackle Unlimited that is a great fit for a calcutta 400. Think it was $79.
