Does anybody watch Jim Cramer? Have you read his book "Real Money"?
I enjoy the "show", but take most of it with a grain of salt (although he did make me a lot of money with Google). I have not read the book. Is it worth buying?

I have read most of his book and parts of it a couple of times. It has some good information in it. Over the last decade, I have been doing some investing in the stock market, but I am no expert. I have been averaging about 10%/year over that time on my portfolio. After reading his book, I have an understanding of some of the things that have happened in my portfolio(Both good and bad). With his book and a couple of the Motley Fool books, you can get a pretty good basic understanding of some of the market forces. One issue I have with the book is lack of coverage of dollar cost averaging. It has worked out well for me.

Book is good, I've got a lot out of it, he teaches you how to trade smart, Cramer is about 60% right on his stock picks. Better than Vegas odds. He also teaches you the difference between trading and investing.

Because of the popularity of Cramer's show, anything he recommends is likely to spike up the next trading day before you can get in, especially if it's a small cap stock with limited liquidity (Louis Ruykeyser had the same problem with stocks mentioned on his show). If you think you might be interested in a stock that Cramer mentions, write it down and put it aside for a week or two to let the immediate reaction settle down. It it's a good investment it will still be a good investment a few days later.

cramer is a clown, and his show is a 'clown show'......
(can't stand to sit thru it, but'll read the re-cap)
but he does move the market tho
he also has an agenda IMO, so my best advice would be 'trade' his picks, but be leary about taking any long-term positions in 'his'? (supposedly 'his') picks...........
if they turn south, you won't hear anything about it from him beforehand,...... and at-best the only thing you could expect to get outta him is, "hey!, i was wrong!, i admit it!"............ "booyah!"
talking heads?....... take'em all with-a-grain-o'salt.......... the media, journalists, and analysts are all human and are subject to the temptation of almighty dollar when offered some to lean one-way-or-the-other......... (all IMHO of course)

I started writing down the stocks he gives a " BUY BUY BUY BUY" sound button to, and about 80% fo the time, the stocks go up the next day.
I think anyone that has the attention of several million people trading stocks is going to have an impact on the market.
I really have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to investing..I still don't know exactly how to play the limit, stop limit, sell short...all the other business... the only thing I do, is look for the stocks Cramer recommends, do some research (not exactly hard to figure out who Best Buy, Lowes, and Sears are..) wait for them to drop a bit and buy. I've been averaging about 9% a month for the last 4 months doing this.
Cramer COULD be a complete clown and idiot...but I've been making money listening to him, so I'm going to keep doing it... if for no other reason than the impact he directly has on the market
Oh yeah.... he had the "booyah cheerleaders" on there for a while too. That's worth a few points in my book!
