"Laugh Often"

A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.
Proverbs 17:22 NKJV

It's okay to have some fun, be happy and laugh. No one should constantly walk around frowning, or angry at the world. There are times when we will have a sad look on our face, or maybe even have a hung down head, but not daily. There should be some periods of happiness where you can smile or laugh, especially since God is such a good God. Find something to laugh about even if you have to read a book of jokes, it will do you good. Don’t forget about yourself, we really can be some funny people.

A happy spirit thinks happy thoughts. Laughing not only lightens a person's mood, it helps you forget about your troubles. A person who is unhappy and discouraged will bring you down. They can't encourage you because they can't see anything good about themselves or their surroundings. Most of their vocabulary consists of, "I can't," "I don’t have," or "I need." There will always be something going on to keep us down if we allow it. Don't stay focused on your problems, pray about them and then leave them in God's hands. Then look around at the beauty of Creation God made and enjoy it. That should at least get you to smile. Think about something that maybe happened in your past that made you laugh out loud, that's another smile. Next what about something you did, we've all done some things that made us laugh at ourselves, and I know I have. We have all heard the saying, "Laughter is good medicine and good for the soul." Just do it, Laugh!

HAVE A GREAT DAY........

Years ago there was a saying going around - "Fake it until you make it."

"Fake it" meaning to pretend. Now when we were children, a large part of our day consisted of pretending. When we grew up, most of us set aside our pretenses and got serious about life.

One day (years ago) when I was driving to work, I felt very unhappy about a particular situation on the job. It was depressing. Suddenly I realized that God doesn't want me sad, unhappy and depressed. So I determined to "fake it." I would pretend to be happy at work.

When I arrived at work, I smiled and greeted everyone with a happy "Good morning" even though I didn't "feel" it. As the morning progressed, I continued to "imitate" happiness. At some point, I suddenly realized that the sadness was gone, and I WAS happy. I wasn't pretending anymore.

The above "Thought for the Day" says, "A happy spirit thinks happy thoughts." The reverse also is true. If you want to HAVE a happy spirit, begin thinking happy thoughts and speaking happy words. In other words, "Fake it until you make it."

And you will find that "A merry heart does good, like medicine."
