It is not nessesary to use CP on NCP or mettalic thread. It is ok to use CP on these thread if you choose to do so. I have found that after burnishing your wrap the CP will help keep things in place after it drys on the wrap. Be shure to wipe off the extra CP on the blank before it drys.
