What criteria would you or do you use when screening stocks? What do you think are the strongest indicators?

I have had some success with the AOL stock screener. I set it for the price range I buy in, percent of price change and intraday vol. I use pretty high percentages. I play with these and get varied stock list. I am trying to get stocks that are trending up. I then chart each of these stocks and make my decisions on what I might buy. I am a rookie and any suggestions are welcome.
