I don't want to get into the 'rights & wrongs' of what goes on in the world as they do down in The Jungle. What I would like to know is how events when/if they happen will effect various sectors/stocks in the market. - I think just that aspect of World Events could start a lively and informative discussion (hopefully without the Jungle's acrimony).

Let me start us off with this question:

If Iraq slides into a civil war, what effect will this have on the stock market and U.S. & World economy?

I've seen pundits argue everything from market collapse (due to restricted oil supply & weak kneed Wall Street jitters) to an opportunity to invest in energy stocks. - What do you say?

As far as Oil goes we have just had a good example of how the market reacts after a Oil Price spike. I would think you can gaurantee it will happen again. You have to take notes and learn from these trends. You have to have the cash available to act.
