I am looking at building a new rod for my Daiwa 900H. Anybody got any recomendations on a blank. The rig will be used for surf fishing. I am thinking of something around 7' not too short but long enough to help keep the line up out of the water and 50-80 lb. I have a similar set up with a 600H and a 30-50 lb. that has worked well so far.
Thanks....

Like most things it all depends on how much you want to spend. I once saw a cut down harrington 552 a guy had a 9/0 on that worked well. I have heard good things about gatoglass blanks as well and they are inexpensive.

The rod I have been posting is built for a 6/0 or a 9/0.
It is a Calstar 550. 9 feet. It has a light tip and a big taper. I have the reel seat built close to the butt with a long foregrip. It is strictly for beach fishing. Kayaking baits not casting. I have not used it yet butt I did harness up in it to set the guides when they were taped. It felt great.
