I know that accidents happen and don't feel that the VP should have to answer any further questions regarding the shooting incident. It happens thousands of times every year.
Now, how come he didn't have a valid quail hunting stamp?
I guess that I'll just forget about getting a saltwater stamp this year. If I get checked by TPWD, I'll just ask for the same treatment that the vice-president receives.
I guess that he was just 2 busy to get one...or perhaps there are different rules for the "ruling class"...

I was wondering about that. Would you and I get that same break? I have only had one violation in my life and it cost me $52.50 even though I fixed the problem immediately. Of course that was 30 years ago maybe we have a bunch of nicer, friendlier game wardens now. I am not ragging on game wardens I really appreciate what they do.

You can get hosed at the counter or over the phone on your hunting lic. It depends on who is keying it in at the time. We see a lot of that with out of state guest. When TPWD starts a new stamp program or restriction usually the first years offence in handled with a warning. I'm just waiting to see how far can the media ride this.:)

Exactly B4B. Is was said that that is what happened. He paid the federal endorsement twice and that state stamp was missed. Either way, I am sure that impeachment charges have already started! He should have insisted that a fine be levied to avoid this part of the argument.

This may sound stupud, but does anyone know what happened to the bird? Did he hit it? - Don't know why, but this has been on my mind since I first thought of it. :)

Now really, if you're the game warden and you see a mean old guy holding a shotgun with smoke coming out the end and the other guy laying on the ground peppered with shot shell across his body would you care about stamps or your own personal safety?

While luck may not be on families side, I have had two brothers maimed in hunting accidents with friends.
Accidents are accidents.
While we all fish, and possibly hunt, I would not wish on anyone accidently killing, or hurting, someone during an excursion.
I know, 'bumber' attitude.
Just reality.

In his FOX interview Cheney has said that the victim was wearing an orange vest and safety glasses; the distance was about 30 yds (the distance from third base to home plate), the lawyer was due west in a waist deep gully with the setting sun behind him. - Cheney admits to one beer at lunch, but states that no one was drinking since then. (The accident occurred just as the sun was about to set.)
Cheney also said he had no idea if he hit the quail. (A question I have been wondering about.) - Delay in releasing information was due to things like a priority concern for the health of the shootee, and wanting to be sure that the victim's family members were notified so that they did not learn about the shooting from the press (What the military does.).
If you have seen the graphic of the shot pattern that hit Harry on cable news, you probably wonder, like me, how the pattern could be so tight at 30 yds and yet not reach all the way to the upper shoulder skin, etc. The graphic makes it look like an extremely tight pattern hit the victim dead on. - I also do not understand why NO news service (except one blurb on CNN) seems to have found a knowledgeable hunting expert to explain the facts of what happened. :(

Well sorry there dude, but I did. After hearing about it and reading the first reports, I thought something was funny about getting peppered with 28 gauge quail load and having to go to the hospital.
And this here would be considered calling you out. You know...quoting your post. Using your name and mine. If I don't use your name, I think you're just a little paranoid. Nobody has mentioned how Cheney feels. Whittington has been a long time friend of Cheney. A close enough friend to go on a hunting trip. I know I would really feel like **** if I shot one of my hunting buddies and injured him enough to send him to the hospital. And them being a public figure doesnt help much either.

Mike TYea-he must feel badly. Cheney responded publicly in the right way too. To paraphrase, he said he just screwed up-it was his mistake and his responsibility. In a world where finding a way to blame an accident or mistake on someone else, I find this both refreshing and responsible.

Ok, lets see here. All this information means what? Some of the facts may have been incorrect? So, is Cheney at fault becasue the TP&W guy put the shots on the wrong side of the diagram?
NO!
Is it Cheney's fault that two people said there was no alcohol involved, remember Cheney never said he didnt drink. His comment was he had a beer with his lunch. No crime again, especially since the accident happened at dusk which means it was hours before and more than likely not even in his system. Cheny's Fault?
NO!
The ranch owner said it was Whittingtons fault, Whittington said it was his fault, Cheney said it was Cheney's fault. Ususally when accidents happen with friends everyone takes the blame, its called friendship. Get some friends PJ and you'll find that out. Did Cheney ever say it was his buddies fault?
NO!
It was reported and admitted by Cheney that he did not have the "NEW" Upland Game Stamp. Being a non-resident I could see this mistake easily happening but still unacceptable. Did Cheney screw the pooch on the license deal?
YES!
I can list here daily of local reports of shootings where there is no story behind it. Just the comment; investigation is pending or something to that effect. Why is Cheney's leisure time the countries buisness? This was maybe a story for the local paper and the Austin paper, period. The mine accident a few moths ago is a perfect example why its not a good idea to jump out and report things. Was there a law broken by it not being released the evening it happened?
NO!
I swear PJ, you have become so dilluted to the left wing way of thinking you cant even think as a rational human being. I agree with you he screwed the pooch on the license thing but the rest is nothing more than liberal BS and belly aching because they have no control. You are an American Insurgent if I have ever seen one. You libs can kick this story around all you want but all its gonna do is turn the country more and more against you. They tire quickly on phantom witch hunts. The constant bombardment of this story looking and begging for an acorn shows the true level of your thinking and the left wing agenda. Ya'll have nothing to add so lets just sling mud and see of we can get any to stick. I guess you wanted Bush impeached for that lil bicycle accident in Scotland too huh? ROTFLMAO

I understand that but by making no comment you give the appearance as just stirring it up. Something that only one side is doing. Cant you agree this thing has been kicked to death already. The local DA said no charges were being filed yet we still have Democrats in Washington saying he should resign over this. Maybe I shouldnt have pointed at you but it seemed from my end you were pouring gas on it. Ill put my gun back on safe. lol

ZNot stirring anything. I made no statement only because I do not have one to share on the subject. I was only reading the statement and thought it had a lot of discrepancies as well. Something that a high ranking government official should not be a part of. My 2cents!

Maybe so but it wont be the first time either. We all have our personal theories that go unconvicted. I wasnt alive yet but I have done some reading on a night in Chappaquiddick that stinks too and that victim didnt get to get on TV and say it wasnt his fault. Id just like to see it labeled as a hunting accident and we all move on. Next thing we know our tax dollars will be spent to have investigative hearings on the incident even when the VICTIM accepts fault. If the man had died I wouldnt be barking so much, I just think its been covered, now time to move on.
Next thing you know someone will blame Bush for the mudslide to get the heat of his VP. lol

The only person that would want to do that would be a Republican!
If it was a hunting accident fine . If it was due to drinking or any other irresponsible actions it needs to be questioned. I personal don't think it would have ever been talked about had the ER not been involved! As you know every gunshot wound has to be reported to the police.

IMO There is no doubt that the Bush haters are always waiting for something to jump on him and this is all they can find. The press is pizzed that they didn't get the first call because for some reason they now feel that the White house answers to them instead of the oposite.

ZFYI: I lived in Massachusetts at the time and one of my good friends was a friend of the younger Kennedy clan, and his uncle was an editor on a Boston paper. - Anyway, he said that the local papers had half a dozen photos showing that Mary Jo was in the back seat and wearing only panties when she drowned. Of course, the photos were destroyed.

The shooting was obviously Presidents Bush's. If there hadn't been so much pollution haze in the air, Cheney would have seen Whittington and never fired. LOL I heard that one on a liberal talk show yesterday. I still chuckle when I think about it.
