Have you ever wondered how the Senate Judiciary Committee hearings on Supreme Court Justice nominees would go if the nominees had the opportunity ask question themselves instead of being forced to just sit there like targets at a turkey shoot.

Imagine the following:

Judge Alito---Thank you Senator Kennedy for your questions. I only have a few of my own and will try to be brief. I see from your resume that you attended Harvard.

Senator Kennedy:---Yes, Judge Alito, I did indeed.

Judge Alito---And did you graduate from Harvard four years after you entered, Senator?

Senator Kennedy—Uhm no, I had a break in my education.

Judge Alito—A break? Well, is it true, Senator, that the break you are referring to was initiated by the University when you were expelled for violating the honor code by hiring someone to take an exam for you?

Senator Kennedy---Mr Chairman, I object to this line of questioning.

Chairman Specter---Please answer the Judges questions, Senator. He answered all of yours.

Judge Alito---Thank you, Mr Chairman. I request that the transcript of the Harvard Honor Council meeting which resulted in Senator Kennedy’s expulsion be entered into the record.

Senator Specter---The transcript is entered without objection. OK! OK! I see you waving your hand Senator Kennedy. It is entered with one objection.

Judge Alito---Senator Kennedy, you have previously stated that on the night Mary Jo Kopecne drowned in your car, you went to you motel room after the accident and fell asleep, speaking to no one until the next morning.

Senator Kennedy---That is correct. I was in a daze and and believe that I just instinctively found my way back to the motel. I didn't even take my wet clothes off.

Judge Alito---I have here a copy of the phone records for the telephone in your motel room. There are 26 calls from the phone in that room that night and I would like to ask you about them.

Chairman Specter---Wait Senator Kennedy. Wait. I don’t think you can just get up and leave the committee room like that. Oh well, Judge Alito, I guess you can go ahead and begin your questioning of Senator Biden now.

Hudge Alito---Thank you Mr Chairman. Senator Biden, were you a candidate for president in the 1988 Democratic primaries?

Senator Biden---You bet, Judge. And I’m hoping to make a run again in 2008.

Judge Alito—Well, isn’t it true that you dropped out of the 1988 race after a scandal surfaced regarding your being accused of plagiarizing a speech from British Labor Party leader Neil Kinnock.

Senator Biden---Ted, Ted. Wait up.

Chairman Specter---Well, Judge Alito, I guess you can move on to Senator Feinstein with your questions.

Justice Alito---Thank you, Mr Chairman. Senator Feinstein, Did you vote for Senator Robert Byrd to be Senate Majority Leader in 1986, 1988, 1990 and 1992?

Senator Feinstein---Yes I did.

Justice Alito---And are you aware, Senator, that those votes were cast for a past Grand Kleagle of the Ku Klux Clan of West Virginia?

Senator Feinstein---Where did Senators Kennedy and Biden say they were headed?

I know it will never happen, but what a pleasant thought.

You have given out too much Reputation in the last 24 hours, try again later
Somebody hook this man up please.

I watched some of the Alito hearings and I kept asking myself the question,"Who qualified this bunch to ask questions?" For all the steps backwards we have taken in Government most people agree(left and right) that we will take a step forward when the fat slobbering drunk decides to retire. He is a poster child for abstinence if I ever saw one. I cant think of ONE good thing he has done for this country.

That was good FJ.

I was in Boston recently. I thought to myself how is it possible for a state to elect Ted Kennedy and John Kerry to the senate?
