Depending on location it may not be covered. A number of insurance companies had an "Illegal actions" disclaimer, in other words if your braking the law, your not covered.

I feel sorry for the people who hit him. I can see it now on thier claim form.
Cause of accident : Flying *******
Damage : grill, bumper, oil pan, rear differential, rear bumper, stain on drivers seat.

I'd say his family has a good claim against the manufacturer of the seatbelts if he was wearing one... they might also have a bystander's claim if it was a live broadcast and their state law has precedent or provisions... they may be able to collect the cursory policy limits from cops involved in chase... can also vie for a good settlement from auto manufacturer by questioning vehicle's crash-worthiness... might as well name other drivers in suit for improper evasive action, get the state road authority for the inheritantly dangerous design of the road... and I'm sure a decent lawyer will come up with additional avenues to pursue... gotta love our litigious society

**** jc, I hope you just forgot to hit the sarcasm button. lol Leave it to a lib to take the side of the "victim". Or is that criminal, must depend on the camera angle and your party affiliation.
Your killin me doc!

hey zac... when it comes to dead guys on the side of the road, there is no party affiliation. a buzzard on a corpse, is just that. i was being sarcastic, but i'm also a pragmatist... I can only imagine the claims that came out of this one occurrence... when there is carnage, dems/repubs/libs/cons all go to wk... from the cameraman, to the pick-n-pull salvage yard... lots of people make an honest living when bad things happen
here's to strong spring hailstorms, a good hurricane season, termites and 18-wheeler carnage :brew2:
I need a new kayak!
jc
oh yeah, I'd sue them for faulty ejection timer and failed parachute while I was at it
