Here we go, my dads PC was playing DVD's just fine and dandy then one morning he tried to play one and it said something like UNABLE TO PLAY DVD DUE TO SCREEN RESOLUTION, and another one like DECODER issues, I tried the obvious and meesed with the resolution but no luck, I know this is kinda vague but do you guys/gals have any idea. I tried loading several differant DVD players and received the same result on each one.

Is it just on one DVD? If so, it may be the wrong format (Region 0 or Region 1). If not, you may need to replace the firmware for the drive. It should be available from the manufacturer's website.

If XP, you could try and roll back the device drivers. Any new software installed? Try another DVD and see if the same problem occurs.

If it is a region problem, you could try DVD Regoinkiller.

If you have a Sony DVD player, this will most likely not work as Sony is very unforgiving and stuborn.

Like Bill said, if new software has been installed that could also cause a problem. New software installed may have installed a version of the Patin-Caufin driver that is incompatible with your drive.
