I like riding in certain spots without, but most of the time I feel naked. It's been 20 years and now I have a new bike. I used to be strictly full face. That might have been due to youth and speed. Looking for a little less uptight. Recomendations and prices?

I wear a half helmet with a winter curtain (neck protector) that I love. I also have a full face that I HATE. I only used it about 5 times and its sit in the closet since. $130 wasted. Its a large. If you want it, make me an offer. CHEAP.

I'm a believer in helmets after my Father in law got cut off on 35 and lived to tell about it. He managed a case of road-rash and a split half helmet. If it wasn't for the helmet he wouldn't be here....

Rick, I have two, one full face and one half helmet. I like the full face on highway rides and it does a great job of keeping my ears from hurting. On hot days, the half helmet gets the nod. Whatever you get, make sure it says DOT approved on the back. The shop in Pasadena has more different helmets than anyone else I know of and their prices are very good.

Look for snell approval as well, a little more stringent tests than the DOT. Does it make it any better, who knows? I went with it cause I wanted to give my grape any extra protection it could get.

I agree with Mont as far as having 2 helmets. My full face is made so that you can actually raise the front portion of the face protection...not just the shield.

Full face would be good in the cold weather I supose.

I got a paper catologue in the mail a couple weeks back. They had some good prices on the half helmets and aftermarket parts. Be careful buying any helmet as they need to be DOT approved. I noticed a few of the helmets on this site are Not DOT approved.
