Just wondering what gun everyone uses and what modifications they have done to it.

my regular shooter is a Riffe Metal Tech #4 w/ 5/16" shaft, Ice Pick tip and 3 9/16" bands. I have had the front stablizer wings added to bring the bands in line with the shaft.

for this gun I also have a 3/8" shaft with ice pick tip and prerigged with cable and breakaway for freediving

I also have a Riffe NoKaOi which uses the same shafts as the metal gun - but now I have a shaft rigged with a standard tip if I want to use it that way.

I have plenty of extra bands and can put as many as 4 5/8" bands on either gun. I need to change the muzzle on the metal and could then move to 5 5/8" bands or 4 3/4" bands.

My primary gun is a Wong 55" Carbon Fiber Hybrid and I shoot a 9/32" shaft. No modifications are needed other than having a rest tab mounted on the gun when it was built. My other gun is a 48" wood Biller. I like both guns, although they are somewhat different with the Wong being a open muzzle gun. It takes a little longer to load than the Biller, but it much faster and far more accurate.

no reel for scuba.

reels are primarily used for freediving. Personally, I would use a breakaway and a flost instead of a reel

Use a breakaway and cable attached to the gun. Hydrosport scuba in Lake Jackson does the best rigging around imo and the bungee rig is really fast and easy!

JBL Magnum.. nothing extra except a spare shaft holder
I have two flat wish bone bands (don't like the cable ends).
When looking at the guns, you can pay some big money, which is not necessary, imho..
The JBL pulls back even with the muzzle, not interfearing with the trejectory
..straight is important, in shooting and Jack Daniels !

They have some pretty sweet deals and my opinion you can't go wrong with the Gulf Magnum XHD.

I use a 1.3m (4.2') aluminium barrel with 7mm(0.2") plated spear and double 14mm (0.55") rubber. I can switch between a break away or fixed to the gun system, depending on the type of pray I go for. I have seen a dive buddy land a 92kg (200 lb i think) yellowfin tuna with the same setup. The break away spear is connected via 30m bungi cord to a bodyboard.

I also have a 1.2m reel gun for shooting in low vis conditions.
