Awesome! Definitely some thing that every one can have a part in. My family is from LA. too and so far every one is accounted for except for one family member. They are currently searching for her, but right now, believe she is safe.
I may seriously consider changing my weekend plans for this.......will give it some thought and see.
Thanks for availing us to this Trey!

It has been decided it will be better to get the money directly into L.A instead of thru red cross for the sake of speed. Again Ron give me a call as I am assuming you,ll be able to find out some group or church over there needing it. Just talked to Ron Taylor he,ll be overthere for next few days.He will be getting me some contacts to send the money to.
Trey. Thanks for stepping up to the plate and doing something for those who really need it, and how! The destruction is devastating and they could use all the help we can deliver. Im not sure if I can make it or not this week. Previous thing. But I do have $12.01 left over in my Pay Pal acount that I can send you for my contribution by the weekend. Not much, but it could help. Sorta broke right now. Can I Pay Pal your account for my contribution?
Anyhoo, why not another race next weekend at MB for the cause?

I have no problem with a special event in the near future. This was just a quick desicion made for an event allready happening. Not much time for all the advertising.Amount of donation I don,t think is an important as how quickly it gets there I,m thinking.I,ll start some planing and post as it developes.

It won,t take much guys. A couple hundred bucks or more of course could buy alot of water or whatever is needed. I was thinking how they need so much stuff and I,d never be able to give enough so why bother but in reality it ain,t that way. In this sitiuation any amount will help. Its the time that matters right now. This weekends THRC race was an event allready happening I,m just taking the cash from it and sending it out to la. Planing another event for next Sun the 11th so there,s more time for folks to come out and on a non race day to allow more to come out hopefully.Nothing fancy,we,ll have a pit out, bring your own food or bum off your buds and all moneys taken in go to the cause directly

Trey, there's a THRC off-road race next Sat. Haven't seen them say anything about donating proceeds, but bear that in mind when you pick your date. Below is an e-mail I just got, followup to one we got from Judge Eckels yesterday. How about 2CRT? Who's in ? If we get enough volunteers I'll put 2CRT on the list.
"TAEP is getting an enormous response to the request for assistance from Judge Eckels' office. The phones and web sites are jammed, but we have finally spoken with someone at Judge Eckels' office. They are still getting organized and ask that every volunteer/group of volunteers sign up through the Harris County Citizens Corps web site at http://www.harriscountycitizencorps.com/volunteer/join.asp (http://www.harriscountycitizencorps.com/volunteer/join.asp). They say that you will be contacted and told where and when you are needed. They asked that we also tell you that it might be tomorrow or the next day.
Thank you!!"

More info:
TAEP has received reports that the servers at the Harris County Citizens Corps are apparently down and that potential volunteers are unable to register. The latest official information that we have received follows:
From the Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management August 31, 2005
As a result of the devastation brought on by Hurricane Katrina, many people have found themselves homeless in a strange city. The Houston Chapter of the American Red Cross encourages evacuees in need of shelter to call 1-866-GETINFO or the local Houston Chapter at 713-313-5480 for information on available shelter locations. Evacuees en route to Houston from the Superdome are scheduled to stay at the Astrodome.
On a more personal level, the Houston/Harris County community has the privilege of helping the evacuees who have been displaced by Hurricane Katrina. People who would like to volunteer in the Hurricane Katrina evacuees Astrodome operations are asked not to go to the Astrodome. The staff at the Astrodome need to remain focused on providing help to the evacuees. Potential volunteers should call the local Red Cross chapter, 713-526-8300, for volunteer information. The American Red Cross will train individuals on skills needed to support the effort.
We appreciate the support of the community. Our residents have a history of opening their hearts and wallets to help their fellow man. There are a variety of ways you can help. You can volunteer by calling the American Red Cross, make cash donations or donate sealed, non-perishable water and food items. Donations of blankets, clothing, and linens are not helpful at this time.
The American Red Cross and the United Way are requesting that you make cash donations only. To make cash donations to the United Way call 713-957-4357. To make cash donations to the American Red Cross you can call 713-526-8300 or go to www.redcross.org (http://2coolfishing.com/ttmbforum/www.redcross.org).
Houston Food Bank is requesting sealed non-perishable water and food donations. The telephone number for the Houston Food Bank is 713-223-3700. Opportunities to donate and volunteer may change. We will notify you if that should occur.
Daily press briefings will be held at 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. at Reliant Center Room 108.

This is just me trying to get some donations rounded up thru the mini scale racers. I am unaware of any other organizations plans for donations or events. As fas as any offroad racing next Sat thats fine with me.I,ll be running the mini scale race next Sun the 11th as posted above. Intresting info you posted above Thanks
Sometimes it is better to do small things quickly rather than to take on huge projects that are slow and complicating. Thats about all I can handle right now. Plates full.
Im with ya Trey. It might be a small thing, just some Mini racers getting together, count me in.

Let's do it. Joe posted a good idea on the THRC site about paying for BBQ plates and donating that money. Houston chapter of the Red Cross is begging for cash.
I think Trey said something about getting the funds to Ron to help at a local church or something. Selling plates of BBQ sounds good, but who is going to do all that cooking standing over that hot pit? LOL Not me! Just doing the dogs is bad enough. How about pitching in an extra 5 bucks per entry?

I,ll be maning the pit this time so no worries.I,ll place a more formal post if needed but bring the food and cars is what I,m thinkin. Lets ask for donations for a big plate and share our cars with the kids and new racers. Lots of free practice time and then a few races. As far as donations and where the funds go I have been told one of the best places was Chase bank. They have a special account and they match the deposit when you make it.Win and Chris told me about this and it sounds good.It was decided to not try and put the cash direct into LA locals hands since they really have no place to go spend it. Yes its that bad. See ya,ll Sun
Trey,
Posted up in THRC too.....
What time? If its after 3 pm, I can probably make it, otherwise it won't be good for me. Just keep us up to date on the time and events.
Thanks!

PD, just show up. It's going to be low key, more about fundraising and fun than racing. Long as we're making money i say we stay there, but it IS Trey's place so we better get some input from him, LOL.
