I need help this weekend catching fish in the Trinity river. I never realy fish fresh water fish that much and I was just wondering what to use for bait and how to rig up. I will be looking for some cats and maybe some bass.

I tried jugging for the first time a couple of weeks ago and had pretty good luck, I just used empty water bottles with about 3' to 4' of string and a hook. I bought my bait at Wallmart and also used some chicken livers, it's pretty simple and works

Chicken Liver is always a good bet when going for Cats -- Not familiar with your river though ... You may try floating soem minnows for the bass ..

I fish the Trinity a lot in Anahuac because im from there. I use cut shad, cut perch and fresh dead shad and chicken livers. I always catch cats using these baits.

Fished the Trinity river, out side of Riverside, in Walker county a few times, We fished with rod and reels, also with lines. We had our best luck with Shad, cut shad, and cut buffalo. We even caught a few yellows on cut buffalo, well they call them ops up there. It seemed the Shad worked real good on rods, we soured some milo and baited some holes, did not take long for them to find it. All we did was pour milo in a 5 gallon bucket, almost full, kept adding water, kept the lid on it. When it soured found a good spot and poured some in the water. It takes a few days to get the milo to sour, also try pouring a old can of beer in it, will make it sour faster.
