What is the cheapest place to get a scuba tank hydro tested in the Southeast Houston area.

Thanks

don't know what dive shops are in your area...try them first.

or call Phoenix Fire Protection Systems (name might not be right, but close) they are located in the Oak Forest area (610 @ ella) - they charge less than a dive shop, but not worth going there unless you have several tanks or live nearby. They might be able to recommend someone closer to you.

I don't know if this is true or not. But I heard that the fire stations is the cheapest place to drop your tank off for this. You might call them. I have a couple of tanks that need it too.

Let me know your findings.

fire stations do not hydro test tanks.

some fire extinguisher companies do.

mirage - you might try calling Kenlee's Guns and Scuba on S. Winkler

this is your best bet. I would guess they hydro the majority of scuba tanks in the Houston area. A certain dive shop uses them to do all their hydros (both shop/rental tanks and customer tanks). Phoenix charges about $15 per tank (prolly gone up by now) to do a hydro. You still have to go to a dive shop for the visual test and fill though.

A-1 Fire and Equipment in Northshore will do them for $15.00. Just had one done this week. They are located on the west bound feeder if I-10 before Fereral road.

In case you didn't see my post on the Blue Water board...

Tell Capt. Ross or Jenny that you heard about them from Karan Porter.
That's who my husband and I usually go through for all our dive needs. We took our classes through them in the early 90's and they are the fairest priced folks and the nicest we have ever found.
Capt. Ross will do the hydro for you while you wait. Just call first and let him know your coming.

Just Go To A Dive Shop. Look On Yahoo At The Yellow Pages. I Took Two Tanks To Vallen And They Did The Hydros. I Still Had To Take Them To A Dive Shop For Internals, Orings And Refills. It Would Have Been Cheaper And Alot Less Trouble To Just Have Taken Them To A Dive Shop.

Thanks for all of the info. I dropped off the tanks at Western Sales and Testing in Deer Park. Got the info from the Bluewater Board. $25 for Hydro and VIP. I was in the area so it was convenient.

That's a pretty good deal, does it include a fill?
