I dive with the Aqua lung Matrix, and a Dacor NO2 as well. The are both pretty consistent with one another, I like the Dacor since it keeps a dive profile, and has a lot more bells and whistle, but is not Graphical, The Aqua Lung is not a complex and doesn't keep a diver profile on calculating bottom time. But has a easier graphical interface to see.

answer a few questions:
1. what is your budget?
2. do you (or will you) dive with nitrox?
3. how aggresive do you dive? (push limits?)

a computer (after a reg) is the single most important purchase you can make IMHO.

nitrox computers cost little more than the same version that uses air only. you can alos dive nitrox on an air computer for an additonal margin of safety, provided you keep track of your O2 exposure manually.

how aggresive you dive and your age can play a factor in the computer you choose. Suunto profiles used to be slightly more conservative than others. Uwatec IIRC, had the ability to change the profile slightly to match your style of diving.

personally, I use an Aeris computer that appears to be no longer be made. It is air-integrated (which I think is absolutely necessary), hoseless and configured for nitrox. IIRC the model is a 750GT

I have a Awatec Smart Com and it works great. Took me a little while to get used to but I am starting to learn all the functions. It can be used on Nitrox which I think I am going to start using in the near future.

But it seems like it is very conservative cause one kick and I am asscenting too fast. But I am kind of thinking I wish I would of gotten a wrist model rather than console.

I have heard alot about the cobra and know several peopel that use them but I have never really looked at them cause I already have a computer. You should be able to get a nice computer for $700.

I dive with a Oceanic Pro Plus 2, Air/Nitrox, Air Integrated Computer, with Compass & Quick Disconnect which I have thoroughly enjoyed and I believe that it is pretty forgiving but still a very safe computer. http://www.leisurepro.com/ is selling it for $569.95.

Nice that this thread came up. Although I have been diving for 13 years, I'd call myself a 'shallow water' diver. Considering that, I was going to ask the same questions. I don't dive nitrox, not an air hog and I would call myself a 'comfortably adventurous' diver although conscious of my limits.

How many of you decompression dive? Is it worth the extra $$ to get a computer with the deco tables built in?
