I'm posting this for Wildman:
Decided to make a little jugging run on Conroe about two weeks ago. Called a bunch of buddies to go but only had one taker. We got to the lake and it was a little windy to fish the area I wanted so we went up in a protected cove with very little showing on the finder. We set 14 jugs out from 20 to 35 feet and picked up a nice channel as soon as we got settled. As we were taking that fish off I looked over and saw another jug standing so we made our way over to it. As we got close the jug went under, way under and I told my buddy to get ahold of the line with the gaff quick. Once he got the main line I told him to give her all the give he could with his arms but if she made a hard run to let go of the line so it wouldn't pull the hook. He went man to fish with her for a minute or two and the big cat broke the surface, it was much bigger then I was expecting. The fish put up a good fight but we got her in the net and put her in the boat. We quickly got her unhooked and snapped about ten pictures before a quick release. I never got to weigh the fish but I'm positive it was 40 but I'd guess more around 45. The fish was caught in 23 foot of water about 6 feet off the bottom on a 4 inch dead shad at 10:45 p.m.. The rest of the night was spent calling buddies on the cell phone and rubbing it in their face.
Palerider sorry I didn't call for an invite but I didn't know you had moved back. Check the cap out in the picture, you should be proud of that. I'll give you a holler next trip.
