Here's a few pics from last weekend's dive.

The diver in the photo is TrophyFishn. The last two photos are a little hard to make out, but I tried to capture an image of a school of red snapper. Many of them were in the 5 - 8 lb range and there was about 500 fish in that school...well 499 now.

Hangtime,

Glad to see the photos came out pretty well. Although it's hard to see the school of snapper. That's a shame, I was hoping to see that giant amberjack we saw in the middle of them. That AJ was a monster.

Thanks for the invite. Excellent trip as always and your friends Kevin and Rich are nice guys as well.

Looking for the next opportunity to go and hopefully by then I'll get some boots for my tanks that don't have them. All in all a great dive trip even if the big fish were deeper than last time. Keep me posted for the next one...TrophyFish'n

For Bubba T., the depth of the snaps are about 150 or 160. Hangtime will know more exactly since he was closer to that than I was.

The pics are great but not near as nice as the real experience. I was able to make 6 dives this weekend and see some nice fish. And my dive buddy was able to get a few nice snapper, AJs and Ling. Being a new diver I am wait to get a few more dives before I grab the speargun. But I don't think it will be long before am ready to start spearfishing.

I'm not really much of a diver, but am starting to become interested a bit. Two things that really freak me out are cudas and sharks. I find myself constantly looking over my shoulder and have a hard time just relaxing and enjoying the experience. Is this normal...and do you eventually get over it????

I am always nervous around both, but I treat sharks with great respect. As far as I know there has never been a cuda attack on a human when they were in clear water and the fish could see the entire person. It is very rare for a shark to swim inside a rig. I have only made about 10 dives offshore so far and all but two have had Cuda. They sure were eyeing me Sunday while I was holding the snapper. But they always keep a safe distance. After a little I didn't even pay attention to them. On a wreck last weekend right after we got in the boat another boat close by caught a nice hammerhead about 7-8' long.

No big fish pics. We shot 1 ling, 1 AJ and about a half dozen snapper. We did see on large AJ, probably 70+ lbs but we never got closer than 40' to him. It looked like the same fish that I shot at a couple weeks ago.

Remarkably the camera that I use is a 2 megapixel Canon Powershot in a Canon housing. The camera and housing combined was only about $400. You can certainly spend alot more. You should be able to rent or demo a camera from a dive shop if you're in the market for a camera. The thing that I like the most about the Canon is that it's only about 3-1/2" x 5" and you can clip it to your BC while you're spearfishing.

We were 38 miles out of POC in about 210' of water. Generally we manage to get at least a couple nice AJ's on the deepwater rigs and then head inshore to hunt for ling and snapper.
