I posted earlier about my recent jugging trip, it was my first time and we really enjoyed. I set most of mine about 2-4 ft deep due to the lake being shallow outside of the channel. How deep do most people set them, do you put weights on them and what is the best available bait. We are going again on Labor day, my dad owns a lake house on lake D'arbonne in N Louisiana

FLoat jugs at varying depths depending on the topography. Weight them enough to get the bait down, if you're drifting them, and use enough weight to keep them put if you want them to remain in the same place all night. We fish them free-floating at two or three different depths, depending on the depth of the water we're fishing and structure encountered there. Shad (fresh cut) is the best bait for large cats, hands down. Many other baits will work... case in point: a friend of mine took his daughter fishing (two years old). She caught a 10 pound bass on her Sponge Bob fishing rig... hotdog was the bait of the day....

Yup -- It is hard to say the best method , I have run jugs from 2ft - 30 ft -- 4 - 6ft is very popular depths at night ... I like to use live blugille with about 2 oz. of weight ... That weight would not hardly do it other places ..
